I'm still working on techniques and editing that I like. I really do love how all of my photos from today came out!

I will make my standard comment about #1...watch your backgrounds. No reason that should have been shot that stopped down.

I guess 1 bad comment is better than zero

And I also did watch my backgrounds. Why you think I shot at f4 or dragged my shutter. What if I wanted that background to be in focus?

There is no rule saying i can't do that. It's my photograph.

I didn't say it was a bad shot...just said there's no reason for it to be stopped down like that. it would be a much better shot without all the background clutter.
Not every critique is a personal attack. I critiques everyone's shots with the same set of eyes. Sometimes my opinion is just that...my opinion. But it is what it is, and I'm saying that, in my experience with taking 70'000 or so motorsports shots last year and listening to other people's critiques, that shot might look better stopped down.

what does "stopped down" mean?

what does "stopped down" mean? stopped down is a reference to aperture adjustment. stopping down the lens = lowering the fstop number to create more bokeh / background blur to isolate subject from background.

ex: your lens is a 1:2.8 so to get the background blurry and the subject in focus you stop down to 2.8 which is the lenses lowest aperture, gives you more depth of field etc

cough...you've got it backwards...stopping down is closing down the lens, going to a smaller aperture and thus letting in less light...a 2.8 lens at F8 is stopped down ;)

I don't want to see that first shot changes at all. It looks sweet with the background.

not sure if u wanna hear it but i think the vignettes take away from the photos, esp. the first one

I'd rather leave them in the photo than spend hours cloning them out of all the shots.

Had it been a paid shoot though you wouldn't have seen them.
