Alright i have had this problem for a while now, and just recently decided to try and fix it.
the boost gauge is hooked up in my 1990 gt - four with a perfect reading at 19 vaq.

the boost gauge works fine, the only thing is it just doesnt light up.

i was just thinking soldering the power wire from the gauge into the power wire for my CD deck, will that work??

also would a faulty ground cause the gauge not to light up??

A faulty ground can definitely cause it. I'd goto the in car fuse box and poke around until you find a fuse that only has power when the car is on. Then get a fused jumper from NAPA or something and install.

Who installed the gauge?
what you want to do is solder the power wire to the Illum (+) wire for the deck, and ground it anywhere, or hook it up to the illum (-) and power it by the ACC, or any Run (+) wire.

Gauge illumination is about the easiest thing to power up.

The previous owner installed it, i am unsure of were the pwer wire runs to.
im going to fix my ground and see if that fixes it, if not i will have to do this.

Okay i went to look at my problem and it turns out the green is not a ground, black is, and it is securly grounded while the power wire is not leading anywere.

so im on my way to pick one of these bad boys up and wire her up and see if she works. :banghead:

Well I usually cut that crimp off the end and then solder from that side. I just like the ease of putting that in your fuse box as it's easily accessible.

just came back from wiring her up, didnt have access to a soler gun so i just butt spliced it for now, just ran the power for the gauge to the power to the deck, but spliced them together and bingo works fine. :)
