So I having some trouble increasing the size of my wrists. I have been going to the gym pretty consistently over the past year and has seem alot of positives, but for some reason my wrists have not changed at all, and with some exercises, it has prevented me from challenging myself with progression. I don't want to look completely dis proportioned, but what would be the best way to focus in on the wrist area?

are you talkin about forearms?

i dunno if its possible to increase the size of your wrist bones since that's an easy way to see if your big boned.

i find it makes me look bigger :D

my wrist are almost 5 inches in circumference

I hope I'm wrong (I have small wrists as well) but for the most part it's not something you can really build as it's pretty much bone. But on the other hand, I don't think it will hold you back unless it involves something like people grabbing your wrists.

Forearms? Deadlifts, chin ups, bent rows, kroc rows. Have fun.

Start with a smaller weight maybe 10 lbs. Put your arm on your leg with your palm towards your head. The weight and your hand will just be over your knee. Now roll the weight from the bottom to the top while bringing up your fist/weight as far as you can go and repeat.

That doesn't increase the size of your WRISTS... those are forearms... :nut:

If you keep physically active, over the years you will likely develop slightly bigger joints.

Wrists are tied to forearm strenght - try PULL ups to help with those (instead of chinups).

so hes wrong too? ^^ how do you suppose you increase your wrist strength genius? just by lifting weights your overall forearm/wrist strength would increase. If he wants bigger wrists, wouldnt he have to increase forearm size :nut: right back at you

wrist strength and wrist size are two different things. Wrist size is mostly genetic and is made up of mostly bone. So unless you can stimulate bone growth in your wrists... it's not going to help much.

I can see where you think size = strength as in an increase in forearm size may mean forearm strength. An increase in wrist strength does not mean an increase in size as there are little to no muscles in there.

^^that is true but you could also see wrist size increase just by say gaining weight :dunno:

very true... but that's gotta but a heck of a lot of weight... and then converting it all to muscle. Even then I don't think he'll see +3inches.

yes absolutely he wont see anywhere near that amount probably ever. No I mean a small but noticable change (hence the excercise example lol)nothing like +3" that will not happen.

When I first started lifting weights I was told that skinny wrists were an advantage in reducing potential wrist injuries.
Is it true? I have no idea.
