So I've never had to deal with anything like this before so hoping to get some advice.

Tuesday afternoon I came back to my truck parked @ the university parkade and the lock on the drivers side door looks to be smashed in.

Cosmetically its barely noticeable, just bend downward slighty, however today the key is now starting catch and at one point I had to open the passenger side door to get in.

Since there's not really a way to find out who did this and go after them / beat the living shit out of them, what can I do about getting this fixed?

Is it even worth it to go to insurance? Or would it affect my rates, being that it seems fairly small I don't even know if theres any point with talking to them.

Would I take it to a bodyshop to get it fixed or would it have to be the dealer to get it matched to my key. I'm not even sure if its just the key cylinder needs to be swapped or what.

Any help / links would be greatly appreciated.

ahh thats gay someone did that to one of my zs once and broke a plastic retainer clip so the whole locking cylinder was inoperable. I had to buy a new one and install it.

I suggest buying a new one and installing it if it stops working. Its around ~$200ish from the dealership for a new locking cylinder and ~$30 to get it badly keyed to your existing keys so it doesn't work. I wasn't happy. Its no fun carrying around 2 keys.

Its not particularly hard. ~45 minutes or twice that if you suck at cars.
