So I got my x710bt installed today. Everything (Sirius, cd, nav, bluetooth connection etc) works flawlessly except for the ipod function.

The HU recognizes the ipod, album art track name, artist etc and the elapsed time. but absolutely no sound will come out.

I've changed the av1 input to video, ext, ipod but nothing happens at all.

I've updated the firmware to the newest version on the pioneer website as well, and that didn't fix it either.

I've tried an iphone 3gs, and older 80gb fat ipod, and a ipod nano. Same thing happens on all of them

Did I get a faulty HU, or is there a trick or something I have to do?

Try pressing the play/pause button a few times. Sounds goofy, but I have to do that with my ipod in order to use it with any external speakers.

Sounds like you only have a USB cable plugged in....The Ipod cables have the USB for control, and R/W/Y RCA's for audio/video, taking up one of your external inputs. When you switch the AV1 input to iPod it just integrates the two together

Im just saying make sure you have the input set up for iPod, and just check the connections....Sometimes its just something really simple that got missed or misconnected. It happens...

Take it back to futureshop let them figure it out, if the reboot doesn't work.
