When I saw this I thought how the hell could led's be bright enough for a projector... then I saw 200 ANSI brightness... not that bright.

yeah but i watched a few youtube reviews and read a bunch of reviews from owners that have been really satisfied with the performance even in a lit room. It's actually the brightest LED projector so far. Most are in the 50-80 range. Check this out

Is there any reason you have your heart set on this projector? There are many really nice projectors that can be had in the 1000-2000 dollar range. I havnt been on avs in a while, but just looking at some of the specs this doesn't seem all to impressive, 800x600 resolution, not enough brightness for a larger screen. $500 bucks is an impressive price point for a projector, but for a dedicated home theater room I would probably go with something else.

it's small, portable and LED. I could do without bulb replacements. Seems like their new revision the HX300 is coming out soon. 1024x768 with 300 lumens and around the same price point.

It also seems LG Canada has no plans to release anything that's not "mass market" to Canadians

Projector technology moves so fast, I think if you bought either of these units you would want to upgrades whenever the new unit comes up because of the differences in resolution/brightness. Size of the projector shouldn't really be a concern, most of them are pretty small and I dont imagine you taking the projector screen with you where ever you go. One of the big advantages of led technology is the bulb life, but I wouldn't trade that for lesser specs. I also image the technology isnt as flexible as lcd int terms of placement.

Even though lcd/dlp bulbs dont last nearly as long they last long enough. Most semi-recent projector will have a bulb life of somewhere between 2000 and 5000 hours. Is this projector for a dedicated home theater room build, and if so whats your budget? If you can I would also try to view some of these in person, im sure there a few members on here that wouldn't mind having their setup previewed.
