Only 500 being built, and all designated for Europe.
Dammit.

Yes, but the Euro's love the hatchbacks.

We Americans love the pick-ups with the shotgun holder. YEEE-HAAWW!

Gorgeous. Brings back memories of my old ZX3...even though I'm sure it will nothing in common with the RS500.

It is FWD. Anything more than 200 or so HP in a FWD sport compact is useless when trying for the best possible 0-60 run.

Except it has no torque steer and is one of the best handling FWD cars in the world.

Its still slow for a small car with 350hp...

Just another reason Ford is crap in NA. Give us cars we want! Fuck why is this so complicated? Demand = Profit.

We saved Europe from the Germans twice, yet we get the shite cars. Who really lost the war?

Save your dimes, a wee joke.

Anything in that tone of black would sell.

All are less money than the $48,000 USD this is supposed to cost and equal or surpass its performance with similar or less HP. 5.6 sec is family sedan territory these days. I'm sure it handles nice, but for 345 HP in a tiny car that is weaksauce IMO. Maybe its just me but I'd rather be in a nice luxury car with significantly better performance for less money than the Focus RS. Each to his own I guess :dunno: For another few thousand you could even get an M3.

If it had 600 hp it would still do mid 5s 0-60 in stock trim. FWD cars can't put that kind of power down to the pavement.

Ford has a $30K USD Mustang that will do 0-60 in low 4s range for those who want 0-60 bragging rights.

I agree that if all you care about is straight line performance the new Mustang 5.0 looks to be a good bargain.

I find it hard to believe FWD cars are limited to mid 5's in all situations though. Maybe its just me but I can't see the appeal of that car at all. Slow, FWD, and very expensive. Decent handling and looks better than some other hatchbacks, I guess?

I think the Focus is built in Germany. That's why.

:werd: it probably pulls like a beast from a roll, and in most driving conditions that's where you need the power. I’m sure this will be plenty fast when timed around a track. I thought people stopped judging the performance of a vehicle using 0-60 time. This isn’t 2001 anymore.

You can't take that $48K price into consideration as all cars cost more in the UK. EVO's cost up to $60K in the UK. If it was sold in the US it would be priced likely around $32-35K tops. There are no FWD cars you listed faster and there's alot more to these cars than straight line speed as it would probably outgun all those cars around a track outside of the EVO. Like the STI and EVO this car isn't for people that want a luxury car.
