Has anyone done this?

Obviously it's substantially easier than importing a vehicle under 15 years old.

Is it possible to purchase a vehicle, and have it shipped directly to Calgary and land it here instead of going down there?

I am not sure about the first portion; I don't think it is THAT much easier really.

But for the second part, yes - it is possible. You just have to make sure the title is sent to the point of entry days in advance.

It's easy. You literally just show the invoice/receipt, pay duty and GST, and that's it. None of that RIV crap. No titles to worry about, nothing.

RIV only applies to cars 15 years or newer based on manufacture date. All that title, export import crap is all RIV paperwork, so you don't have to do any of that at all.

You still need to go through the export process, but the shipper should take of that for you. You will need to provide the shipper with a copy of the title though.
