I have recently decided I need a nicer vehicle than what I'm driving now (mine is getting old and high mileage)

over the last couple weeks, I've narrowed my options to just 2.

2006 silver 300C srt8 - 64000k
fully loaded, no nav, rear dvd (cant remember if it had bluetooth)

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a304/barmanjay/Capture2.jpg
this is the exact one

2009 black 300C 5.7 - 23000k
fully loaded, no nav, touch screen cd/radio w/bluetooth, no rear dvd

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a304/barmanjay/Capture.jpg
This is the exact one

outright price difference between the 2 is only $1500

I'd really like to hear some experiences on the various motors, pros and cons to each.

I'd even like some experiences on the 300C

srt i drove had retarded power,.. without traction control on,..it broke loose doing 60 when i matted it!

the hemi didnt, but the pick-up was a heck of alot better than my gtp!

So please, post them up to help with my decision and please add your reason for the choice you would make.

SRT-8 for sure!

I'm just a sucker for power,i would hope it had a somewhat mature owner and good service history,i think that even though the srt-8 is older it will still hold its value better since it's a special edition car.

If purchacing through a dealer i would see if you could purchace more warranty.A friend of mine was a tech for Dodge and said that 6.1 hemi is a tough motor with a beefed up tranny to back it up,so your major powertrain components seem robust.

Either one sounds like a nice ride, i have allways liked the 300's (srt in particular)....have fun!

out of those two probably the srt8

I love my friends 300 so much, super comfy.

If it was me:
I would go to Cadillac though an see if I could drive a spec-v
then make my decision

SRT8 for sure. Drove a rental 300c to Vegas a couple years ago and I thought it was a beast. Can't imagine what the SRT model drives like. The ride was very comfortable on the trip.

I would say it's a no-brainer if the difference is only $1500.

Is this your daily driver?

The SRT will take more gas. The brakes won't be cheap to replace ~$2K just for parts (I think, could be wrong).

It is older.

It would be a tough call for me, but warranty has a lot of value, especially with Chrysler.

Yes it will be my daily driver

gas mileage im not too concerned about. (driving SC'd 3.8 and in boost 50% of the time got me used to bad fuel economy)

Sounds like everyone is liking the srt

I'm leaning towards it too, but need to hear some stories on reliability or how good they are,... any input?

1 yr powertrain warranty is ok,.. but a 4 yr is more appealing along with 2 years left on the standard warranty.s

Can you purchase an extended warranty on a used vehicle from a different dealer?

for eg: purchase from leasing company and get extended warranty from (lets say) renfrew chrysler?

can you not buy an extended warranty?
str8 would be my choice but the rear dvd is a joke in my opinion

The tires on the SRT are also alot more expensive to replace due to bigger wheels

The fuel economy is 1 mpg less with the srt8 over the standard hemi. I averaged 16l/100km with my 5.7L as a daily driver. Other than more power you get essential handling upgrades with the srt8, which are needed IMO and way better seats. You'll regret not getting the srt, trust me.

SRT8 and see if you can get extended warranty thrown in.

Also with the srt, you can turn the esp completely off, for shenanigans, where as with a 300C, it's never all the way off and you can't go sideways for more than a few feet.

I voted for the SRT8, but benyl is right gas alone will suck for a DD, and the maintanence will add up pretty fast, I would go for the newer model instead plus you have more peace of mind with warranty.

SRT-8, but it will be pricey for a domestic to maintain.

Valid points

I did find out I can go to one of the dealers and get an extended third party warranty.

Not sure on price though.

Plenty to think about over the holidays

Third party warranties don't cover everything. be careful and read all the fine print.

The SRT8's power is fucking addicting/retarded. If you can afford the gas (One tank can get you to Banff one way...) and maintenance for the big brakes, huge tires and other shit, go for it.
