Yep. That's where I got mine, just a basic flat black snell approved with no windshield.

mopac and performance parts center has them for about 120$ snell M2005 i believe.
i'm told that the "m" classification is meant for motor cycles (aka one bounce off the ground). while others are meant for different types of racing including those classes that require fire protection, but they start to get a lot more expensive.

two years ago i wrecked while wearing the M classification helmet. while it worked great and had no signs of any faults, i retired the helm anyways.

Make sure to look on the inside of the helm to find the sticker for the snell rating, i've seen a couple boxes that list the helm being snell approved but didn't have anything other then the DOT sticker.

Just go to any of the motorcycle shops to try them on. I personally like going to GW Cycle up over at barlow... great service and great people. They also gave me discount on my helmets too. I dont think theres any place that i know of that sells the Snell SA helmets in town. The SA helmet is the one with the fire retardant material and is made for auto racing specifically. If it were me, i would just settle with a Snell M2005 helmet as the SA helmets are way more expensive and you dont really need one unless you get into the real serious racing.

Make sure to check that whatever class/series you are racing in will allow M and not just SA rated helmets. Chumpcar wouldn't let us get motorcycle helmets IIRC.

If you need SA rated, like others have said, Mopac is your best bet.

$185 ain't bad for an SA helmet at all, I will have to swing by and pick one up. It's a shame Chump doesn't allow M helmets, I just bought my M a few years ago and now I have to go buy an SA. :nut:

So I swung by Mopac today, they only have a single SA2010 helmet in stock ($220, size L) and all their other SA-rated lids are backordered. Looks like I'm stuck ordering online, I was really hoping to try them on first.

Why do you need a SA, versus a M?

I buy buy M's online form GW overstock, last one was $69.

Most racing organizations (wheel to wheel especially) require the Snell SA (Special Application) rating.

http://smf.org/standards/sa/SA2010/sak2010_final

Main differences are multi-impact test, fireproof lining and size of the opening (some are too small for motorcycle use)

Hey Shawn, thanks for the hookup on the helmet today! Saved me a lot of potential grief.

Chumpar regs require SA-rated helmets mainly due to the fireproof internals. I already have a nice M, but I've gotta shell out the $ if I want to race, haha.
