Hey, my moms looking to by a new vehical, in the price range 15- 20k seeing has her old Pontiac is starting to nickle and dim her. She is in her 50's wants something good on gas, small, and maybe alittle zippy. I was thinking a new civic would be suitable, but do you guys have and other opinons/suggestions?
Also possible a good car for sale?

Thanks

$15-20k is a very low range for a brand new car, what kind of options would she prefer? Is A/C a necessity? Power windows/locks?

What Pontiac did she drive before, and what did/didn't she like about it?

These are all things that would really help to make a good informed decision.

Without knowing much else one of the best bang-for-your-buck cars out there right now is the Hyundai Elantra, and it can be pretty well optioned for under $20k.

When looking for new cars don't forget to factor in the following:
Documentation fee ~$500
Freight / PDI ~$1500
GST ~$1000

With these 3 things alone it will add about $3k to the price of any car you are looking at, so keep this in mind when considering the posted prices of most cars.

AC is no big deal but she would like power windows/locks and such. She's driving a 1999 grand prix. The thing is huge shitty on fuel and all around just totally falling apart, but thanks for the input.

Base model Subaru impreza starts at 20k, alittle over her budget but well worth the extra $!

At top of your range:
Base Civic
Base Corolla
Base Matrix
Base Forte

Fit would probably be better is you want if you want a bit of budget for options.

And I'm sure you can get a very cheap Accent as well but I would rather go for the fit.

You could wait for the Fiesta or Mazda2, but I think the Mazda2 is coming out a fair bit after the Fiesta.

I liked the SX4, but it seems like I'm in the minority.

why buy new when you can let someone else take the hit yet enjoy the warranty?

08/09 civic, mazda3, honda fit, corolla all fits her needs. If you want to save money buy a year old Korean car and save 10k.
