View Full Version : does a vehicle become written off when involved in shooting?

title states it all, I bought a car and got it reaaaly cheap, only problem is that it has bullet holes on the c-pillar
It was reported and the police know of the incident, but Im worried that it may be unregisterable, Ill do a check on monday but was looking for some help before I get new tires and glass repair which I was planning on doing tommorow

i dont really know if it becomes write off but i would be more worried about driving a car that had been shot at who knows they might be still looking for the car/person.:eek:

I would say no, but it's just a guess. It's just damage after all.

Did the driver die by any chance? You'd hate to discover you were driving a "ghost car"....

I would say no unless there are airbags in the pillar, that might make it interesting. Otherwise it is just as if someone nailed the car with a pitchfork, no harm really.

The previous owner is obligated to tell you if it was written off

It really depends on if the insurance paid out for it or not. If they didn't go through insurance it's not write off. I bought one of these before from the auction, they said it was salvage I was ok with that. Brought er home, ran the VIN at the registry and turned out it was active.

Most people have to go to Canadian Tire or the Wal-Mart automotive section to get bullet holes for their car.
You got the REAL THING.

Meh, I'd rather have bullet holes that can be patched over rust holes that will continue to corrode... :)
