So i've gone brain dead and need some inspiration from someone. Im looking to spend anywhere from 10,000-17,000 on a car for the summer. The first and pretty much only car i've been looking at is an 01-05ish 330ci. Id be looking for preferably a coupe thats rwd but im open to any ideas. INSPIRE ME beyond. Thanks.

Well it all depends on what you want.

Are you looking for an all-out sports car (like my FD RX7 which I would be willing to sell), or something more luxury, like Neil is pointing out? Give some criteria man!

Ya I guess I should of been specific. Looking for something more luxury/sport I suppose. BMW e46 chassis seems to be ideal to me so something similiar? G35's are an option as well.

Well then you are really narrowing it down to the premium brands. What you select might have to do with how much power and handling you want.

Things from Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Mercedes and Lexus come to mind.

So... A4/S4, A6/A6 2.7t/A64.2, 325/328/M3, G35, or IS300 should all be of interest to you. After that point, it really comes down to preference.

My a6 4.2 oozed luxury - I loved it. And it was a nice and comfortable size. If you want something smaller, than the A4/S4 might be in the cards... especially if you want AWD for winter.

If handling is more important than power, and AWD is of no consequence to you, then the BMW offerings are tough to beat, and probably have the most razor-sharp handling of the bunch. The G35 was a pretty nice car after the interior redesign (2005?), but still doesn't measure up luxury-wise. With that said, it would be one of the quickest of the bunch. Personally, I've never been a fan of the IS300's; they just didn't have the outright performance I would like in a sport coupe/sedan, and didn't compare luxury-wise to the Audi and BMWs, imo.

Another brand to consider is Mercedes; just remember that in the 2000's they were often plagued with problems. But in your price range, you could be looking for something like the C32 for all-out performance. (They are stupid fast)

I have been driving a 2004 S4 for two years and have spent $0.00 on repairs. Just $150 oil changes :)

Ive been looking around for S4's its hard to find a decent car at a good price with decent km's. Even the e46 market sucks right now. I cant seem to find a good deal.

OP:
I'm potentially picking up a non winter driven 01 E46 330Ci with 140k 5 speed M pck and Premium package with 08 M3 wheels for 10K certified.
There's deals to be had out east.

There's also lots of rust and auction grade rip offs out east.

Just watch out for any signs of rolled odom's or rusty undercarriages

Sure, but 01's that have been fine and regularly rust proofed or not winter driven are much better priced than in AB... I think all of our cars are way better priced, domestic to imports. Rolled odom's and severe rust normally comes from Quebec. I work in a dealership and trust me, most crappy cars come from Quebec.

That's funny cause I have never once heard anyone call a Subie STi or Celica GT4 "ricer" and quite really IMHO "luxury" is so far overrated that it's not worth the extra coin spent. The extra coin could be spent on power/suspension that will spank all the "luxury" models out there............IMHO as always
