I'm looking to purchase something from the Aeroplan website and I'm short about 15,000 points. If anyone is interested in selling/bartering for their points just drop me a PM.

It's expensive to transfer points.

Sure, you can transfer them.

2 cents a mile.

Aeroplan sells them direct for 3 cents a mile.

If your flight is worth it, you can pay 150 beans and get a Amex/or whatever card/deal is giving good mileage.

It may take 4-6 weeks to get those miles in order to book a flight, but for me it was still cheaper to go out of my way and get another visa + pay taxes than it was to pay full choke on a ticket.

Takes a little juggling and looking around but if you're not looking to book RIGHT NOW then you may have time enough to do the visa thing. Tickets $1100+ are where this may come in handy.

I read some thread ages ago on another forum about a guy who bought all these granola bars or cereal that were on sale at a grovery store, except you got 100 bonus airmiles when you bought them. He bought like a thousand dollars worth of granola bars but ended up with some insane amount of airmiles, like enough for him and his family of four to go to the Bahamas or something.

^^^ Aeroplan points are different from Air Miles.

If you don't already have one, sign up for a CIBC Aerogold Visa.

It'll cost you $120 to get 15,000 introductory points. That's less than 1¢ a point.
