BSD Wristbands

Like every year, heres the thread. It's a pain because almost all of my friends go to U of C, and BSD is an insane party. Good music and lots of beer, really could care less that it's for U of C as they get a lot of underground bands I like but rarely see.

Anyone not going this year? If so I could use a wristband. I am insanely poor, so it would be awesome if it was free, but I am willing to pay.

Needle in the center, push the clamp thingys aside, and it pops off. Also when I first tried, ripped one off my friend, and burned it together on my wrist. Painful, and they pulled it right off. Somehow bullshitted my way into that one.

they only check your driver's licence and student ID when you get your wristband... at the entrance of beer gardens they only check your drivers licence

Since beyond is awesome, I share awesome info.

Get a bic pen, the cheap ones, not the crystal case one but a solid white case. Take out the ink and you are left with a tube. Take tube and insert into the plastic portion of the wristband which looks like a 'donut'. It will fit perfectly around the circular portion in the middle of the 'donut' Apply pressure until you hear a click which at this point separate the two plastic pieces.

So useful, hate having the wristband on for a few days, gets in the way. Unless we can find the thread with pics, i'll try to post some pics when I get my wristband.

MAJOR EDIT: It's not the ink tube, it is actually the ink TIP taken off the ink tube. Pics later tonight.

I pulled the ink head out... seems like it fits but no dice getting it apart.

That step is the most difficult for me, you pretty much keep applying pressure and moving the piece around until it clicks, my brother is wayy better at this than I even though I showed him how :(

Having trouble with all the image hosts :banghead: but hopefully this one picture helps. It is a bit tricky at first you will get the hang of it.

1. Get Bic Pen
2. Detach ink head from ink tube from pen casing
3. Insert ink head into round part of bracelet
4. Keep wiggling the ink head until it clicks
5. Lift and separate pieces.

Make sure the inside ink head is relatively clean, otherwise you will get ink everywhere, when you detach ink tube from ink head, ink might leak out.

Its actually a pretty good time, especially if you go there. You get to meet allot of the people who you randomly see around in your classes.

Kinda fun just hanging outside and enjoying a few brewskis with a bunch of your friends. And unlike 90% of the clubs out there, no try hard ed hardy douches, nice approachable people, limited risk of getting stabbed or some tough guy trying to start a fight with you.

Anyone gotten almericks "trick" to work yet?

Maybe me being right handed is the problem, but I've been trying for 30 minutes and no luck asides from sore ink covered fingers.

Got almerik's method to work this morning. It comes off clean so that all you have to do is snap it on again. What happened for mine was that I pushed the bic pen tip in hard so it jammed itself onto the button, once I pulled the tip off the latch was undone.

As stated, they scan licence and id. I remember last year you went through a ID debacle-hopefully it goes smoother this year.

I was watching when my friend got his. Pretty much they scan your student ID, then take a picture of your Drivers License to match your student ID. I really doubt you'd be able to get a second one.

They don't scan it as in scan it like a picture like the driver's licence, they scan the barcode on the student ID.

They don't scan your student ID, JUST your license. If you have an old U of C ID (that is some what recent like mine from last year) it will work.

And confirmed. I've got mine and my buddy got one using our old ID's. As long as your U of C ID is from this year or last year, they do not scan your U of C ID.
