Looks like BMW is actually going to produce the M1 (based on current 1-series)!

I don't think it's right to be calling it an M1... but, for current day marketing it would make sense as every other series drops the last two numbers and puts an M in front.

I still maintain the 1 series is the best car BMW makes, although the new Z4 is giving it a run for its money.

man, I don't understand that at all. It's not half the car the 335i is. It feels heavy on its feet. I've driven it for a short while and it definitely didn't drive anywhere near other cars BMW makes, like the M3, 335i, even 535i is better.
check out reviews like this too if you don't believe me:

I'll give you that it's too heavy for what it is, but the same engine from a 335i in a smaller, cheaper package is awesome.

Haven't driven an M3, although reading about it, and driving other 3 series cars, the new ones are fat compared to the e36/46's, although all cars these days are.

hmm I didn't know there were so many good reviews on it. I drove the E90 M3 for a bit, and a 335i as a DD for a while and I obviously prefered both over the 135i. I found it really heavy and I didn't like the throws when rowing through the gears. Plus its expensive for what it is, looks ugly, and IMO isn't worth the cost. It's still a better car than a lot of other cars though due to its performance.

All the 135 needs to be a good car is a limited slip diff, functional aero, tuned suspension, and a delimited engine.

I wonder how much one of these will cost. What does a well equipped 135i go for now days ~55K. If this thing sells for much more than 60K it probably won't be worth it unless it really gets a large power bump.

That thing is about as exciting as a dry toast and ugly as the lower half of Kirstie Alley - during the fat years.

The "real" M1 one on the other hand would be worth getting excited about. Hopefully they will get on with making it.

I hate how BMW increases the HP on every model run and puts a M badge onto it. They aren't true M cars in my opinion, You look at the E90 M3 and it is a completely different car from the E90 335 Suspension set up, body work, engine etc. it is a completely different car with body lines similar to the stock 3 Series, same can be said about any M3 generation. But mow with the X6m X5m M1 etc they aren't the same division, they are loosing their total performance reputation and turning into an AMG wanna be big HP but otherwise useless cars.
