Whoa!! thats something you dont see too often....that engine has to make alot of power to have the "glow" effect right? :dunno:

It's just a LOT of heat. Any stock turbo can look something like that after very hard driving -- that's why something like a turbo timer or leaving your car to idle after such an event (hard driving) is recommended. :)

Damn... can you imagine putting your hand on that thing...

take it out of it's efficency range and the ammount of heat becomes retardedly high

Umm, thats on the compressor side .....

The glowing turbine side is pretty standard, but things that contribute to it, are overly lean fuel settings, and retarded timing...
Its a common occurence on a rotary car, even non turbo's because of the straight out exhaust port, and thermal inefficiency of the motor coupled with port overlap..... Still a cool pic though...

There's a link to watch a glowing 20b 3 rotor drag car cook its exhuast manifold in real time.... Maxt

Yikes, that's something you don't see alot of. I know it probably happens with hard driving but it just seems wrong that anything on the car gets that hot.

damn.. can't you put an airduct from the bumper or somewhere to route some air to the manifold/turbo area so it doesnt get as hot ?

that heat should help spool the turbo... as long as it's not trapped taking some torterous route to get out of the head and heating up because of it or issues like MaxT mentioned, then it's not such a bad thing... Various NA cars can look like that coming off the track... depends on tuning or if it's a rotary. :D
