Coles:

Government is corrupt. People overthrowing it.

The US uses Kyrgyzstan as an airbase to launch sorties into Afghanistan. This relationship is in trouble. Russia is sending troops there now to 'Protect Russians'

People have actually heard of Georgia. I consider myself pretty up-to-date on what the world is these days and like hell I could pick this place out on a map. It's one of those little ex-bloc hellholes that wouldn't have survived if the Americans didn't move in.

georgia had so much fox-news flavour spin on it to make russia look like the antagonist .

I doubt you or many other people had heard of either places before they made the news. They may seem poor, but they have an old history, and a very different definition of what being poor is. You say they wouldn't have survived if the Americans didn't move in, but it's the opposite - this wouldn't be going on if not for the corrupt American-supported leader.

I resent that. I am familiar with Georgian history and I knew Kyrgystan was one of the ex-Solviet bloc countries. I also maintain that without the US filling the power vacuum after the collapse of the bloc there would have been even more problems. It's well established that US military bases indirectly employ in the local population at least twice what is actually stationed at the base.

Hell no. I'm saying that the country was better off in the long run with the Americans dicking around in there rather than the Russians, which is what would have happened.

Let's not start with Gilles Duceppe. I have family in Quebec and they all say most people in Quebec are sick of his separatist ways and are more worried about jobs and the economy than ditching out from Canada...

Does anyone have coles notes as to WHY they are rioting? I have read the guardian article, the boston article, a standard article and a CNN article and none of them explain WHY they are rioting.
