My buddy just blew the motor in his 90' probe se.

He wants to know his options, and I dont know enough about them to make a statement I shouldnt.

What are the upgraded motors besides the KLZE and price wise, what would he be looking at?

well first off a klze will not be a direct swap tell him to look into a j-spec turbo swap I forgot the engine code. get him or yourself to search for a member named convict he has a 90's probe with some great info on these cars so look him up

If it is a 90 probe the it would have to be a first gen. So he would not be able to a swap in a KLZE. KLZE's are only a dirrect bolt on to 93-97 GT's (second gen).


I don't know that they ever made 90 se though :dunno:???

Which brings me to the other possibillity that it is a second gen SE (93-97) which is an I4. There is also a swap for that, but i cannot remeber the engine code right now. This engine is also much harder to get your hands on.

Maybe its not an SE, but it is a 90' for sure.
Either way, it needs a new motor.
I might buy the car for $400 bucks if I find something I might want to swap in:D

Yeah if it's a 90 then it's either a gl, lx, or gt. They are all 2.2L 4 bangers. First gen GT's are pretty damn quick, fastest Probe stock ever made (I4 Turbo). If you were going to try an engine swap, try to get a GT and maybey get a better turbo while your at it. Be warned, it will probably be expensive. Everything for the Probe is much harder to come by then most cars.

Then I wouldn't even bother, because no engine swap I've ever heard of is a cheap fix, expecially not a probe :guns:

Im not totally sure but for the I4 mx-3s theres the BPT and B6T u can swap to it,i believe I4 probes are somewhat similar. the engines are out of 323GTX and somethin else that i cant remember.

PS both turbos

OK!!!!!!!!!!!

Bringing it back from the dead.
There was a member on here who had a JDM F2 turbo motor for $900 w/ tranny and ecu.
but he is now banned.

Anyone have any idea what it might be???

The cars price has now dropped to a a fee that was the same as the tow charge, so it will be my gf;s this week.

BUT!!!

I still need a new motor for it.

Any ideas for under $2500??

The 3L Vulcan V6. It came in rangers, tauruses, probe v6s etc
