I'm thinking of upgrading my DVD disc to the latest version as the maps are seeming more and more like they're outdated. How much better will the map availability be for the Calgary area with the latest disc compared to a 2006 disc?

I'm assuming the Navteq maps are the same across all makes and models when comparing the same year

Sorry, I missed this. Yeah, I am, but sadly I have the CD-based, not the DVD-based unit.

Anyway, I'd wager that it will be significantly updated from 2006. You'll still likely be missing things like the Stoney Tr. ringroad, and Cross Iron Mills, but the meat and potatoes of the city and surrounding areas should be there.

My system doesn't know that MacKenzie Towne exists... and Edmonton is just a lake. But if you want to know where to go for dinner in Airdrie, the whole damn city is mapped. Figure that out.
