I dont know if anyone else uses the "view new posts" button, but its alot better than going through all the forums individually. For some reason, Ask Leo has been omitted from that, so one has to first view new posts, than manually enter the ask leo section to look for new posts. I think itd be convenient to have ask leo included in the results.

yeah, it's not as busy anymore so there wont be a post whore of the new posts!

actually its not included on purpose, "Ask Leo" is not a forum for ALL members, and as such, the members that chose not to view said forum dont have to be bombarded with it when using the 'search' or 'viewing new posts' feature. Think of it as when you use a search engine to research something for school/work, and all you get is Porn sites, frustrating isn't it? We are offering the same consideration for all our members for this reason :)

Can it be made so I'm not bombarded with all those for sale ads?

It would be nice to be able to choose not to view some forums, and have the ability to edit your preference later. Kind of like an Edit Ignore List function for forums.

Great call...the Classifieds should be omitted as well if possible, because most people won't buy or sell on this site anyway...

Yup, it's getting ridiculous...

I definitely like the classifieds in there, cause there is so much crap sold that I dont care about, if it was all in its own forum I wouldnt bother going into it manually and the odd good item...its easy enough for me to scroll past what i dont like, cause there usually arent that many pages. The best idea would be what FiveFreshFish said I think, where the user can specify omitted forums.

I don't think you can be specific when you click the "view new posts" button. The address in the pic above looks like a search, but it is searching for the newest posts.

I'm sure there would be a way to accomplish this. Maybe having the 'show new posts' button only show those posts from those forums that you are subscribed to under 'user cp'.

That would take a massive rewrite of the search functions, not to mention that it would show nothing by default, confusing the newbies. What I've implemented should be fairly good and make everyone happy.
