the gym is called "Space"
not very many people know about it, so it is not busy at all, it is a very cool gym, and a great price too.
Last time I was there I think it was $25-$30 a month, no contracts or nothing.
Very good place IMO.
A couple of blocks east of the Stampede, dont know the address off hand

If you work downtown, Banker's Hall Club is nice. Rates are quite a bit more though since it's downtown and all. Not sure of the exact price, but definitely more than $60/month...

Another vote for Talisman. Yeah it can be busy, but they have great equipment, full facilities (new expansion, pool, hot tub, cardio, weights, courts, track) and the talent there is quite nice as well. Free parking, central location, much cheaper than the other gyms (only weights) and the talent there is quite nice.
On the downside, only one location, and they have so much shit going on all the time (leagues, intramurals, national teams). But the time that I hit the gym (~6pm) it's not too bad at all.

The Gym is pretty hardcore, but the equipment is pretty old. It's a no frills place.

Bankers Hall, well if you can afford it. Last time I checked was around $1000 /year

I got a week pass to Golds in Northland, and my sister and a few friends have memberships there, and they're all thrilled w/ it.
Uhmmm, i think my friend Kyle got his membership for something like, 5-600 a year...
All new equip, and just built like, what, maybe a year or so ago...
Prime location too...

That's where I work out too...unfortunately they don't play music there and there are a lot of wanna be players that hang out wearing beaters and toques that just talk. Good thing is they have sweet equipment and it doesn't usually get too busy! The hot tub/pool/steam room/sauna is accented by a couple good looking lifeguards too haha

westside rec,
it's close to home and it's cheap if your parents have a membership, it's only like 150 or something. True there is high school fags that work out and act like jocks, but overall, i'd rather have that then have steroid pigs lifting the whole stack like Golds.

The Glencoe Club...

13 yr waiting list, $15,000 initiation fees, and $150/month afterwards

Yeah, MRC gym is sweet!!! Love the equipment.

Westside is decent, their Sauna sucks though, and the life guards look 12, haha. I don't like how all the equipment is scattered around.

Is it still really humid at Talisman??

chris, i go to world gym on 32nd. the place is new with all new equipment. it's in the n.e., it's about $40/month, and very nice atmosphere with not alot of attitude. i've been to a few places and it's one of the best "all around" ones. too bad it's not 24hrs though.

I joined in December and have bee nthere just about every day since. It is really nice. Not quite as good as MRC, but MRC has a pool, basketball courts, squash, etc.

Gold's has everything you need and is only $35 for the next little while. If it's not, you could probably talk them down since they are renovating.

I joined for $30/month with a two year contract.
