Hey, I was wondering if anyone here works at Gold's Gym? I'm looking for a new gym for summer.

I have a friend that works there, she couldn't do anything for me. Your best bet is to look to take over a contract. I just took over a contract $25 biweekly

It's $40 biweekly with no enrolment fee if you want to go there without a contract

There's only 7 biweekly payments left on my contract so I figured I'd just go to Gold's for the summer

Does anyone know how much notice you need to give them for cancellation on a bikweekly basis without a contract?

The electronic agreement says that you need to give 91 days notice by registered mail if you are still on contract.

I considered going to the UofC gym because I'm a student there and you only have to pay $68 for 4 months, but parking is expensive

Yeah, I went to SAIT's gym for the semester but I was planning to switch to another gym anyways since SAIT's gym is terrible. I used to go to cardel but it seems like golds is cheaper than cardel if you're under a contract and golds has much better equipment

I'm a member, but I prepaid my membership in full. It's a great gym and I love it (I actually left WHC for Golds). But the cancellation process is bullshit.

My brother signed a contract for a year, after it expired it was automatically renewed. He then went in person to cancel and they forced him to send a registered letter (which according to gold's never arrived), he sent 2 more after that. He went in repeatedly to speak with the manager and sometimes waited over 2 hours to see the manager (he refused to leave until he spoke with someone), when he got angry about the cancellation issues he was surrounded by a group of trainers who started harassing him. But he kept coming back, finally after nearly a year he got a call saying that they would cancel his membership, but he would have to pay a $300 fee, so he did. 3 months later he got a letter from collections saying he owed money to Golds, it turns out they never ended up actually cancelling his membership and were charging a credit card that he cancelled. This has cost him nearly $1000 and over a year of his life to cancel, on top of that the staff is unbelievably rude to him everytime he comes in.

Read up online, there's hundreds of horror stories.

i was told the same thing; but i know someone that works there and he told me all they need is 31 days but to call in after about 2 weeks and confirm that it was cancelled, so thats what I did and had no problems

Cancelling with these pricks is a nightmare.

I signed up with the Eau Claire facility in Feb 2008. Tried to cancel.

Today, April 30, 2010, after going through phone calls, office visits, and finally small claims court, I get these pricks off my back with judgment against them.

FUCK YOU, GOLD'S GYM! THANKS FOR COMING OUT!

Seems like they are trying to screw me over already... less than 2 weeks in and they charged me $51.45 as a club enhancement fee. I was told that I would only charged for that if I was there for 1 year (on the month of anniversary).

Has this happened to anyone else?

I'll never patronize a golds gym, heard way too many horror stories. This thread is no exception.

Yes the enhancement fee comes around christmas time i've noticed, and a word of advice to all, sign up at northgate, it is run by a different owner than the eau claire, northland and mkenzie locations and is cheaper, you just need to sign the book every time you go at another location.
