Thought I would share some of my recent projects done here on the island. First pics are before and after of a fireplace I just finished. It is a natural stone veneer installed with an over grout mortar joint for a more country look. It has a two peice hearth, each rock about 2'x5'x3". The stone is Eagle Ridge Sandstone.

A few finishing touches have yet to be done, tiling the woodbox and installing a vent at the top of the fireplace.

here is a bbq/outdoor kitchen built last summer. The structure is built with cinder block and filled with concrete. BBQ and stovetop are supported by angle iron anchored to the core filled block. Stone facing is Salt Spring local sandstone and countertops are granite. Decking is Pennsylvania bluestone.

Thanks, the backyard is the ocean:) This is what I do for a living so these pics are not my house unfortunately. If there is interest here in this type of construction I can keep this updated with my current projects and provide diy tips.

Nice work, but what's that in the fireplace to the left with a door in it?

that is a wood box. You can open the door from the outside and load up on firewood

nice stuff. I was batting around the idea of becoming a mason at one point but I never really tried it so I don't know if it wsa ever really an option. Always thought doing stuff like this would be a great way to make a living.

Good job!
