Day i got it... almost 4 years ago now, bone stock and low milage.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b88/DDM_Avenger/Myself/IMG_0185.jpg

First mod (I was young and stupid) set of Black Tenzo Rims. (don't worry, I finally plan to update these soon). I loved the way that the RS-5's looked on the car (still do).

And then in went my first performance mod, Injen CAI

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b88/DDM_Avenger/Prelude/IMG_0004.jpg

The next thing I did was the stereo, single JBL 12 inch, with a Pheonix Gold Amp and a set of JBM Components

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b88/DDM_Avenger/Myself/IMG_0001.jpg

Couple pictures while the car looked like this:

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v338/190/51/691785202/n691785202_4235814_6306.jpg

Drove the car in this form for a full year, and then disaster struck in winter 2009.

Car got Sandwiched between two bigger cars...

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs047.snc1/2836_186915480202_691785202_6584985_3566897_n.jpg

I was very lucky that the damage was almost entirely cosmetic... (car being shaped like a slice of cheese meant that his bumper went over most of the important stuff).

Insurance took care of it, and thanks in no small part to Derek at National Collision, she was back on the road around a month later.

I took this as an opportunity to add a Seibon carbon fibre hood, and a set of Aerocatch hood pins.

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs047.snc1/2836_186915610202_691785202_6584987_3420850_n.jpg

Now it was time to address the 4x4 ride height...
the classic Honda-tech setup came with solid reviews for reliability, so its what i decided to go with... boy was I wrong.

Koni Yellow struts with Ground Control Coilovers

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs094.snc1/4690_211978670202_691785202_7125276_8313801_n.jpg

here were the initial results:

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs114.snc1/4690_211978680202_691785202_7125278_6257148_n.jpg

Still not low enough... don't you think?

looks great!! a OEM, WWRS or mugen lip (if you can find any) would make it look lower.

I my self had a set of WWRS sides and rear but i stupidly sold it thinking i could easily find a set of OEM or mugen, boy was i wrong :banghead:

I must take a moment right here to thank Will and Paul at Speedtech. They were a tremendous help in solving some problems and helping me get what i needed.

So, the springs on the coil-overs started to rub against the sleeve threading (among other problems) this resulted in me changing out the suspension setup, replacing the Ground Controls with a set of Eibach Pro-Kit springs... and thanks to Paul's handiwork, the car now sits on approximately a 2 inch drop. (I'v decided this is where shes going to stay).

Now on to some more cosmetic stuff for the 2010 season.

Seibon C/F Trunk to match the hood:

Looking pretty good... but definitely still lacking.

I ordered a GReddy Spectrum Elite from Speedtech. One of the nicest and newest exhausts available for the Prelude (sounds pretty good too)

Thanks :)

My plan (under consideration) is to paint the ones that are on the car, and add the JDM Type S front lip. We shall see what happens.

I Like it, even the rim's aren't too bad. 4 years is along time for that progress though, Give me a month with that car and it would have more done to it haha

Over nice build so far

So, with the new Exhaust on, and some new parts on the way (more updates will follow) Its time for me to clean up a few little problems with the car...

the first of which would be my VERY annoying cracked front signal light.

Thanks to Saccucci Honda down in Rhode Island for getting me these (at a good price... screw you Calgary Honda)

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs448.ash1/24667_10150177329395203_691785202_11980074_6188286_n.jpg

And I'm also replacing some leather parts, Redlinegoods.com (very good experience so far but we'll see when I get them in the car)

Replacing the shift boot, e-brake boot, and Centre Console cushion.

Black Leather with white stitching if you cant tell from the crappy pictures. Custom made for the car.

I like the mods Dane, looks good. I had Eibach springs (prokit) on my 01 Lude and they were amazing, good work! Get a darker tint, retrofit your headlights with HID's or put in quality lighting, and buy the OEM lipkit if you can find one and boom! it'd be perfect. I love your trunk in CF, looks beautiful.

i dont quite understand how the "coilover rubs against the sleeves". Who did the install? I dont think i have ever heard that before, buh_buh had that exact setup for years and never encountered that problem iirc.

I had two Preludes in the past and I definitely miss it. OEM front lip is wicked but ever consider a greddy front lip? It looks pimp.

here's my preludes

And here is my Pearl White one with OEM sideskirts and OEM rear lip kit lowered

These pics use to be my beyond sig so I appoligize for the cheesy name on them. LOL!

Thanks man... not sure about lighting... i have some ideas for next year, I'm not going to let them all out of the bag quite yet.

Edited my post to better explain what happened.

Speedtech did the install... I'm honestly not totally sure what was wrong... we had the coil-overs on their absolute lowest settingso it could have been that... :dunno:... I also wasnt completely happy with the spring rate i chose when i ordered them.
problem is solved now though anyway.

haha... i like the Type S lip because it doesn't really hang super low but still looks good. The car is my daily driver all year round and it needs to be 100 percent reliable so i try to keep everything as drivable as possible.

whats wrong with this front lip? :poosie:

I actually initially wanted a black one... but once i got the car in white i fell in love with the colour. I think all my cars will be white now.

My initial plan was actually to just leave the OEM trunk and put a CF Type-S spoiler on it. but the Spoilers were all backordered and just as expensive as the trunk.

New leather parts went in as well.
The shift boot and centre console turned out great, I must say I was not impressed with the e-brake boot... the fit wasn't what I expected.

My Preludes were also daily drivers as well and it was fine and reliable to drive all year around. The good thing about the Greddy lip is you can actually take it off during the winter easily and just put it back on in the spring/summer/early fall if you really want to. I'm not too sure about the how easy it is to take off the type S lip, but all I know is it took me 3-5 minutes to take the Greddy lip off if it was snowy outside.

It's like a Prelude reunion in here. Haha. I still have the 5G Prelude love too. So much so that I ended up buying another one. It's hands down the best daily driver I've ever had.

not 100 percent sure on whats going to happen in the future... theres a certain swap that I'v been considering attempting when my financial situation allows. As far as I know, its only been done a few times ever before.

Next year for sure though, ill be changing the wheels and possibly some other things on the interior :P

WOW! Holy do I miss my old preludes, went from a 97 base to a 00 base in pearl white.

Oem front lip w/ mugen sides and rears (stock spoiler). Intake, header, greddy exhaust, vtec controller, and pspec short shifter.

How is the K-series swap development coming? Do they have plug and play kits (engine/tranny mounts) available now? I remember seeing the first k20 swap back in 2005 however it was all custom fabricated.

Yup proud previous owner of the prelude, had it from 04 - 09, sadly mine was auto, and remained stock, minus a stupid loud raactive exhaust, 2 12" JL W1V2 powered by 500/1 JL Amp. Still miss the car alot too this day, i just love the look of the car. I wish i would of bought it 5speed tho, as the 6speed tsx i have now is so much fun, i think it would be even better in the prelude. Had OEM kit as well, loved it, you'll probably still see it in the streets in the NE, sold it too a friends little sister... sadly she took a chunk out of the front lip already... made me cry on the inside ...
Ignore the reversed rims, was on rotation lol

Another quick update:

New wheels have been ordered from Will at STRD... they'll be here in August (I have bad timing)

added a Tanabe Sustec strut tower bar... I'll admit mostly for looks.

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs309.snc3/29039_10150201018970203_691785202_12596267_7056183_n.jpg

Please pardon my very dirty engine bay... I promise its better now.

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs309.snc3/29039_10150201018985203_691785202_12596269_224436_n.jpg

And then it was time for something creative... Gloss black vinyl wrap on the roof.

Before:

During:

Huge thanks goes out to Reggie and Tyler who helped a ton (did all the work :D )

We did it in two pieces, just to make it a little bit easier.

Laying the first piece.

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs309.snc3/29039_10150201019545203_691785202_12596276_814228_n.jpg

A little smoothing out...

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs338.ash1/29039_10150201019555203_691785202_12596277_1193682_n.jpg

... and the end result, there is one small wrinkle we couldn't get out... but all in all I'm very happy with how it turned out.

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs309.snc3/29039_10150201019560203_691785202_12596278_7355897_n.jpg

More to come.

all it needs is some kind of a front lip (which IMO every prelude is missing) and painted rear valance to finish it off :bigpimp:

good job!

Transmission decided to stop working... so while a new one is going in, I decided to get some other stuff out of the way

New brake pads and rotors (Hawk and Powerslot) new Clutch and new wheel bearings and hubs in the back.

Thanks to Rhys at Revwerks for getting me everything I need... Paul for getting me a transmission and putting it all together.

Am I allowed to ask why you sold it? Always thought it was a pretty slick ride, but then again, one year you think you have your dream car and the next life changes and you can't keep it or your interests change.

Destinova403
06-23-2011, 02:33 AM
My primary reason for selling it was school. I'm still deciding what I want to get. Maybe something a bit better on gas and a little bit younger. We'll see.

The Prelude was my baby, but it was time to move on and try something a bit different perhaps.
