Its a new franchise from Italy. Yes, I said Italy. 1st one in Calgary and Edmonton has a few.

They let the dough rest for days and hand stretch it. While its cooked in a 900 degree oven and done in 90 seconds.

The pizza are all thin crust, very thin crust and the crust is very chewy and good. Assortment of different toppings. The pizza is tasty but my main beef is how soggy it quickly got. FOr that reason alone, I label it a fail as a good thin crust pizza.

I got take out from there last week, and the soggy crust thing bothered me as well.. but that can happen with any delivery/take out.

Quality of the ingredients was definitely way up there!
Also had some proscuito/mozzerella balls appetizer which was awesome!!

Next time I'll be eating in though!

i've been meaning to try this, driving down 4th on friday night saw it was pretty packed.

maybe you have to eat it that quick before the sogginess sets in?

question is, it is really worth the 13-15$ for an 11" pizza based on the ingredients alone.

Address for those wondering like I was,

2303 4 Street SW. (Old My Marvin's Deli)

I would pay for good quality toppings over the crust... but if reviews have been for a soggy crust... it's an epic fail. It's an easy problem to solve anyways. I'll probably try it tomorrow either way.

Keep in mind mine was soggy with take out... I find most pizza's get a little soggy when sitting in a carboard box for any time...

It was only the very middle, so Im sure if you ate in it would be way better.

no, it's not from italy - it's actually a chain from EDMONTON. the only thing italian about it is that they attempt a neapolitan style, more or less successfully depending on who you ask.

yea, their pizza is known for being soggy. That is a common problem among new pizza makers, and could be due to many factors including excess water in veggies and cheese, letting the sauce sit on the dough too long, having the wrong thickness factor for the cooking time/temp, etc. etc. etc. what really turns me off, though, is that the staff tries to pass of the sogginess as being "the style" instead of correcting the real problems leading to a soggy crust. Neopolitan pizza ISN'T necessarily soggy.

My soggy pizza was within 5 minutes of EATING IN. It was not take out.

Had this last night. Wasn't soggy, but wasn't particularly good.

I had the prosciutto and arugula pizza, trying to compare the place to pulcinella. There is no comparison. It was pretty bland and pretty dry, although it was very fresh which is good. I was hungry, so I ate the whole pizza, but mainly because it was food. My gf liked the caprese salad, but was not too excited as it was nothing special.

The owner is crazy young. Saw him talking to a couple of the other customers. I guess he bought a franchise from the crew that started the place up in Edmonton.

Here's my rundown:

Food: 3/5

Ambiance: 4/5 (Cool rotunda type place in Mission; the rent must be a killer)

Service: 4/5 (Nothing to complain about; quick, clean)

Value: 3/5 (On the cheaper end for pizza restaurants of similar style, but for good reason)

Overall: 3.5/5 - Might go there to try a gelato in the summer.

I enjoyed it. I liked the "order at the till and get full service after" method of dining. I will go again and try different selections of their pizzas. Pizza had fresh ingredients, simple and good.

Only thing is maybe the ingredients fall off the pizza quite easily, which is why it was meant to be eaten folded. So not a big issue there.

I find the pizza at Pulcinela gets soggy fast also.

Pretty good Neopolitan pizza, but it DOES get soggy really fast. The big ceramic plates they serve the pies on contribute to the soggyness. They should screw the "fancy" plates and instead serve the pies on something breathable like cardboard, paper, or pizza screens. I mean it's just a cheap fast food restaurant - i'd rather have a crispy pie than something on a thick white plate. :dunno:

I had it last night and my pizza got soggy as well. I just thought it was meh. Service wise, I'd say it was mediocre as well. It was a bit of a gong show last night trying to get seated. It was unorganized as the hostess was not up front taking down names to get seated. I know that a few people behind me had to track down the seating list and put their names down themselves since the hostess was no where to be found. I got the deal from groupon so I could try this place and I don't think I'd go back otherwise.

The best in my opinion is Il Centro no soggy pizza and great ingredients.
Great pizza and the best Calamari.
