This car handles like nothing else I've ever driven... and I've owned a lot of sports cars! The turning radius is tiny, and the body roll... well.. doesn't actually exist. This car stays glued to the ground with good tires up front, and two brand new Toyo Proxies on the back.

The car puts out a respectible 255 horses, but at only 2900 pounds it is a real rocket. 0-60 can be reached in a shade over 5 seconds, and the 1/4 mile in about 14 seconds. The key to harnessing the RX7's power is to drive it right up to the 9,000 redline. Unlike piston engines, this car really likes the top of the rev range and could run at the redline all day long without blowing. Don't believe the hype about fragile rotary engines... yes, you have to take good care of them. But if you do, they are extremely reliable.

The car has an active title and has never been written off. It is not in perfect condition, but about as perfect as one can expect for a 17-year-old car. The ground effects do have some spider cracking in the paint, as is common for fiberglass. The front of the passenger side light sits about half an inch higher than it should. The interior is near mint. The car passed an OUT OF PROVINCE inspection last week, so you know it is in prime mechanical condition; these inspections are intense, and they check EVERYTHING. (Car is from salt-less B.C.) This is a rare example of a babied RX7, and it shows. The yellow colour makes it even more rare - as this is the most-sought colour for RX7's.

Full touring compliment with leather seats, moonroof, and electric goodies. A/C could be stronger, but has been converted to current standards so it can be easily recharged. It could also use an alignment; I plan to get that done in the next few days. The engine on this car is bone stock, and as far as I know has never had to be rebuilt. There is no coolant in the oil - which is a tell-tale sign of impending failure. Even the airbox is stock.

The turbo pulls like a freight train, and the RPM's stay nice and low at idle. The clutch doesn't slip at all. Modifications to this car are a racing exhaust (sounds great- despite a little popping when cold), momo shift knob, strut bar, rear tint, OZ wheels, and body kit. There is also a 2-sub aftermarket stereo system with high-powered cd deck, and neon strips in the footwells.

You could find a RHD (Right hand drive) out there for cheaper. But who wants to drive a JDM piece of garbage? Passing on the highway is a death wish! This left hand drive model is exactly what the dr. ordered now that the roads are clearing up. Price is lightly negotiable.

Please don't waste my time to see what an RX7 is like. I know they are rare, but please go find another elsewhere. I only want to speak to people who are interested in owning this beauty, and have available funds. (No kids!) I might also consider trades, but I know my vehicles so please do not expect to make extra money on the transaction.... it has to be fair. Absolutely nothing RHD!!

I have this car on Kijiji for $15,900, which I think is a pretty great price in the first place. I'll offer it to my fellow Beyonders for $15,400.

Edit: Oh... and one of the best parts: This car has under 100k. (Sitting at about 96,000 I believe)

Do you have a pic of the hatch with the stereo install?

I do not right now, but I can do so tonight if I remember. I'll take one of the engine too - it's nice and clean...

(Note: this is a response to a question... not a bump. Don't hate on me mods...)

Edit: Here's the pic. Sorry for the crappy cell quality, but you get the idea...

...and one of the engine...

(just so everyone knows - the yellow is more like the first two pictures than the cell pictures; it is CERTAINLY not pastel!)

Redline STARTS at 8,000, but you can drive the rotary into the 9k range without incident. I barely ever hit the redline at all actually; I just don't feel comfortable with revving a car up that high; with an aftermarket exhaust, it just creates too much attention I don't need at my age. Hence, the Corvette which has so much low-end torque I don't need to make the exhaust scream. (Torque is not the FD's strong suit.... but the hp/weight ratio is excellent)

Monday bump. Truly cannot believe this is still available. Replace the nose and monster spoiler, and it is still cheaper than anything else out there...

13,590. Come get it! Open to trades for any vehicles... just not JDMs. I can't lower this anymore, so mabye I can trade for a car that is easier to sell and not so niche?

Ok. $12,999. Firm. For Beyond members ONLY.

I cannot and will not go any lower. Most cars like this go for 4-5g more, so I cannot believe this is still for sale!

Why is this? Was this car in a previous accident?

I don't think so. There is a little play in the mechanism.

Still available. $11,990 firm, and it will NOT go lower. I'd sooner hold onto it and add a few grand to the price in the spring.

Edit:
I know Jlude. Even if someone doesn't like the body kit, they could replace it and still save thousands. (Personally, I'd just replace the spoiler.) But for the record, was your comment worth a percentage off your rating? ;)

I just (finally) sold the 300zx tonight, so if this doesn't sell, I at least have the room to hold onto it if I need to. I'm not stressin too much.... anymore.

Yes it's a nice car, but I just don't get how you can value a 17 year old car at 15000? Can you explain where all the value is in this car?

vansonvu
09-30-2010, 03:32 AM
solo GTR ill try my best to explain.
rx-7 fd's are one of the most sought after tuners out there. Its in absolutely mint condition, original motor and i would say still running strong as kloubek seems to know how to take care of his cars. Its tough to find a FD in this conditon, LHD and turboed. Also a very rare colour, also the price has been dropped to 12,000 and thats a steal not to say 15 wasnt. Do alittle research on the car and you'll see why its marked at the price it is for a nearly 20 year old car.

Actually Evo - as much as I'd love to claim it was mine, it was not. Unless, that is, someone stole it out of my garage today while I was at work. I might drive sports cars spirited, but I'm 35, and rarely "RIP" around. :)

Solo:
1) These cars are super tunable, and could become unbeatable on the road for about 2g more.
2) These cars are rare - at least in LHD version.
3) This one is rare yellow, with very low k, and very rare unmolested engine.
4) You'd be hard pressed to find many cars with better stock performance, even brand new. They don't often make cars like this anymore. The rx8 doesn't even come close. This car is not meant for someone who wants new. If you want a newer fast car, spend the same amount and get a SRT4. But newer isn't always better. Believe it ir not, there IS a market for older cars. Ever see how much old restored Cudas and similar cars go for these days? Probably not.

And I'm unsure who vansonvu is, but he appears to be familiar with the car. I would stop short of calling it ABSOLUTELY mint. But it's pretty close. Just want to ensure transparency here...
