I have a 07 328i.

I would like to put 17inch or 18inch wheels on them.

What do i need to know? bolt pattern etc? Suggestions?

Help will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Lowering your car before wheels is better imo.
Wheel gaps just bother me.

Study up on that.

You'll be looking for bolt pattern that is 5x120. Since you have 16" stock wheels, you'd likely want to go 18" or more for more appeal.

I suggest looking for the style of wheel you like.

Some pics in this thread that may help you: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153

For example, this is gorgeous:

19" BBS LM's
front: 19x8.5 - 235/35/19
rear: 19x10 - 275/30/19
Lowered on KW Variant 3 coilovers

And yes, the rears are different offset to give it that look you see.
