Guess with the new truck I need to invest in a OBD code reader...

Truck decided to pull a no-start on me... it's a 95 chev with OBD1 - tried jumpering the pins on the diagnostic port - no flashy check engine light... Guess I need a proper reader with this truck.

Don't suppose anyone's near scenic acres with an obd1 code scanner?

I think auto value has some OBD readers and they will do it for free if you can get it there

Autovalue only does OBD2, they don't scan OBD1

Having just called all the parts stores in calgary; none loan/rent obd1 scanners... and in most cases have obd1 scanners "Oh you just jumper it to get the codes" - except on some 95s... :banghead:

Are you sure it's OBD1? If you can't jumper it there's a possibly it's OBD1.5, GM's bizarre bastard child of OBD 1 and 2 they used in 1995 that requires a special reader to pull codes. My GF's 1995 Pontiac has it, hoorah for GM. :nut:

Lol, I didn't even know there was such a thing as a OBD-I reader, every OBD-I vehicles I've ever owned, I just jumpered and watched for the blinking lights, or sweeps or whatever.

Yeah it's obd1.5 or whatever - the 95 only version that you can't get any info from without a 300$ reader that nobody has...

Looks like fuel pump, now that the wifes home had her cycle ignition a bunch of times - no lil buzz... This is going to be REALLY fun now - full tank of gas - so not about to drop it... Propane tanks in bed, so can't lift the bed off...

Starting to think about cutting an access hatch in the bed of the truck :)

It wont be that bad to change. Did my 97 silverado a few years ago in a driveway. I used a motorcycle jack to support the tank and lower it down. You can borrow it if you want.

Yeah it's not too bad of a repair all things considered. Those two high pressure lines were an absolute whore to get apart... and had to drop the driveshaft to be able to get on those with enough leverage to eventually break em loose.

If its an extended cab pickup then you should be able to life off the back seat/bench/chairs/etc. and you should see a little compartment door thing you can open to access your fuel pump.

Crewcab - and no - fuel pump is right under the forward edge of the bed.

did the fuel pump fix it?
often times you won't need to get the codes.
those trucks are very simple. check for fuel and spark.
if no spark. 9 of 10 time it is the ignition module
if no fuel preasure, check the relay and fuse, if they are good 90% chance it is the fuel pump

No, ended up having to drop the tank again to test / check wiring. Grey wire to tank was cut & spliced where it drops off the firewall into the frame for the LPG/Gas relay. Luckily for some reason after fixing that - checked for continuity from that splice back to the tank; there wasn't... Ended up chasing a new wire from the relay back through the loom to a new weatherpack.

I never want to drop that tank again
