Looking for suggestions for some slightly offbeat or unusual wines that will cellar well. Can be either a less popular grape, a smaller region or just a harder to find vintner. Must be available in Calgary.
I'm looking to buy a case for a friend as a gift. He's got a pretty big wine cellar, and he likes to entertain, so looking for something that he'll want to bring out for guests. Needs to be drinkable today, but due to the size of his cellar, he'll likely take a few years to work through the whole case. Price isn't the primary concern, since this is a special occasion.
Probably buy a case for myself as well and hide it away.
I am planning to dropping by willow park and probably Bin 905 as well to discuss with them, but I'd like to get more opinion from the classy beyond crew.
