wtf is going on, new battery wont start car ASAP REPLY

alright guys,
so i just got a new battery after my old one wasn't holding a charge.
Today, i turned my car off, and then it wouldn't start .
i hooked it up to another battery and started the car, let it run for a long ass time but nothing.
i turned it off and it wouldn't start.
my interior light wouldn't even come on.

Could this have something to do with my alarm/autostart?
or my alternator ?

I have a spare alternator, but it seems like a big job just to find out it doesn't work .

If you have a volt meter laying around, put it on the terminals while its running. Sounds like its not charging, if you dont have over 13 volts, its pretty safe to say its fuckered.

Okay, well i had the trickle charger on it for a bit, and took it off.
but i tightened the connection between the positive terminal.
the connection was quite loose .
i was just wondering on your opinions .
but i think im going to change the alternator anyway when i get time .
