i really dont consider those trucks. They are even less of trucks than the el camino (which wasnt a truck). They are all based on cars (platforms) and in general look like cars with a bed.

99% of trucks will be rwd because you can make a rear axle much stronger and cheaper then a front axle for towing. I can't think of any fwd trucks for the NA market anyways.

also I think that RWD has better characteristics for dragging heavy loads around and towing.

a front wheel drive truck would not be practical, you need to put your load over the drive wheels. a front wheel drive truck with a heavy load would not be able to tow the grade of a speed bump.

All the posts are quite accurate, but at the same time, whether or not a Rampage is a "real" truck depends on the useage. To haul a fifth wheel or something, ummm. not a chance. Although with mine, I have hauled one time, a complete 360 4bbl engine, 727 and 998 trarnsmissions from the city to here (130 miles). I used to use it to haul our 1100 pound hard top tent trailer and 400 pounds of tools and equipment from here to the track (500 miles) at 27 mpg. So yea, it is a truck, just not a heavy hauler. It's never going to haul my race car, but did fine hauling the other things we needed.

well. if you do like i did and blow a U joint in the rear drive shaft of a 4 wheel drive its easy to have a front wheel drive truck. remove shitty busted peice and put it in 4 wheel. fronts drive and rear spins free. works great for moving snow too. by the way it was an '86 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 plow truck.
