Description :
The first STi version saw a limited run, as the regular WRX was taken off the production line to STi for special treatment.
STi (Subaru Tecnica International) hand-tunes the WRX for sale by order only. Available in manual transmission only, the STi features high-strength forged pistons, light weight HLA, improved intercooler efficiency, intercooler water spray, a FUJITSUBO exhaust muffler, re-mapped ECU tune, carbon-fibre strut tower bar, Cherry Red trimmed exclusive bucket seats and large size rear spoiler.
Horsepower and torque is increased to 250PS/6500rpm and 31.5Kg-m/3500rpm respectively (WRX STi & WRX STi-wagon)
Unlike the WRX wagons, where the power is scaled back from the sedan's specs, the STi Wagon and STi Sedan perform identically.
I also have a 1994 WRX, and have logged both using Revtronix, I can say that the performance from the STi is 2 seconds faster in a 0-60 than the WRX, and the WRX isn't exactly slow.

the performance is the same or better, but mine is not limited to 180Km/H with the J-Speed ecu switch flipped in the up position. You'll note that the limiter at 180 can be hit in 4th gear 130-180, and once in 5th, you're only at 5500rpm. With a safe, legal place, you'd be able to hit 230km/h for sure.......
0-60 in 6 seconds 0-180 in 16sec WITHOUT LAUNCHING. No idea what you could do with a launch, I've never done it, and never wanted to, I baby this thing, and I hope you will too.
Extras :Why is the price so much more than the WRX's (5000.00 to 9000.00 typically)?
Limited edition/rarity. Only about 1000 ever made, and the only STi that was ever "hand-built by STi", the rest were done at the Subaru facility, and "Hand-Tuned by STi"
