This may have been done before, if so I'm sorry...I did a quick search and didn't feel like sorting through the garbage (I may just suck at searching).

Anyways! Anybody have any favorite driving roads? I drove from Victoria to Botanical Beach at the road was amazing and virtually empty. The highway was full of switchbacks and twisties and well paved.

Highway 1a between Banff & Lake Louise. It would be 10X more fun if not for the 60kph speed limit. :whipped:
The road between the Kananaskis lodge & Longview is quite beautiful & "windee" as well. :)

A fair drive to get to, but 103km of well maintained 2 lane blacktop between Little Fort and 100 Mile House, B.C.. Tons of wonderful curves, elevation changes and very little traffic - do it going west bound because of the big climb out of the Thompson river valley at Little Fort. Google maps link (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Little+Fort,+British+Columbia,+Canada&daddr=51.58219,-120.94574+to:100+Mile+House,+British+Columbia,+Canada&hl=en&geocode=FeuwEAMdIdHV-CkN2Mwo4YF_UzEP2z5Ls7ww0A%3B%3BFU4FFAMd2DLF-Cnblu3zHGyAUzF1FypD_cA9VA&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=10&via=1&sll=51.600107,-121.25473&sspn=0.417121,1.40625&ie=UTF8&ll=51.573656,-120.797424&spn=0.417364,1.40625&z=10)

When I lived in Cochrane years ago, there was a backroad from highway 1A into the north end of Cochrane, it ran past a monastery. It was a perfect rally-type road, some asphalt, some hard-packed dirt, but lots of curves and elevation changes, and narrow to boot. Too bad it's been closed forever, I'd drive out there just for that if it were open.

Highway 101 along the Pacific coast in Washington/Oregon/northern California - problem with my favorite drives is they're only doable on an extended road trip. Also, highway 93 from Missoula, MT to Twin Falls Idaho - another 622km of 2 lane goodness (link (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Missoula,+MT,+United+States&daddr=Twin+Falls,+ID,+United+States&geocode=FVI2ywId8pY0-SnLZ_NQKsxdUzEugJTKdxLj6Q%3BFZd1iQIdOXct-SmvbrLFpKOsVDGqwfgs7HfLJA&hl=en&mra=ls&doflg=ptk&sll=44.71749,-113.88038&sspn=7.634077,14.128418&ie=UTF8&z=6))

(link (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Louis+Creek,+British+Columbia,+Canada&daddr=Squilax,+British+Columbia,+Canada&geocode=FcFODAMdWhTX-ClNhLUEj6J_UzEpEvcOVS_VWA%3BFWk8CAMd2fbe-CmlL1zswFV-UzFTMt6QTVnZaA&hl=en&mra=ls&doflg=ptk&sll=51.025849,-119.8526&sspn=0.422374,0.883026&ie=UTF8&ll=51.00857,-119.855347&spn=0.422532,0.883026&z=10)) via Adams Lake and Agate Bay Roads(67km) - mostly paved but has a rough gravel section above Adams Lake for just under 10 miles. Do it every summer though coming back from 100 Mile House country as it almost cuts an hour off going through Kamloops. Good thing is that they're improving the gravel section - would be a blast if it was paved.

Personally, I've done driving vacations in the past where I took 10 days and did not have any set destination - had a map and just took one day at a time. That's how I found so many enjoyable 2 lane highways in B.C. and the NW States whether it be on a motorbike or a car/truck.

I didn't drive a vehicle I own but I have driven it with my dad, looking forward to Goodwood Festival of Speed then then the 'ring this summer.

I already answered with the road to Waiprous, also Highway 99 Vancouver-Wherever the hell it goes past Whistler, cant remember.

I love the road I described in the original post. I drove it in my pops' e46 3 series and want to go back this summer in the m3 i am hoping to buy this weekend..once you get to the beach and wait until the tide goes out you can see a bunch of tide pools with fish and starfish in them too....nice way to relax before blasting back down the highway for 2 hours of corner hugging fun! :guns:

Waiparous - have they repaved that, used to be pretty rough. I also see that the Google Streetview car/whatever has been up the Waiparous road and even the forestry trunk road north of that - they've been busy. And using Google Streetview would seem to indicate that the Waiparous pavement ends at the Bar C Cattle Company ranch - good for maybe 25km from highway 1A?

Yes Lillooet that's what I was looking for. Road surface isn't great on that route though.

The road to Waiprous is maybe 10-15km, not even. Road surface is ok I guess, nothing major to worry about. I like it because theres not much traffic, mostly open so you have a good view ahead, and I have never seen RCMP.

Other suggestions are to cut across from 1A to 1 at Seebe, and save yourself about 30km of pretty boring road, or go from canmore south along Spray lakes (gravel).

California HWY 199 aka Redwood Hwy. It's only 20hrs away (or 10hrs from Van).
Fucking phenomenal. The guys I was driving with on this road HATED it because we left early in the AM and I didn't let them get any sleep.

When I read the Title this is the exact road I thought of. One of the greatest roads I've ever Driven.

It's so awesome I didn't care that I had to spend the whole day at Butchart Gardens with my Gf's family, simply because I knew at the end of it all I got to drive back down it.

Made it even better that we had so many people we needed 3 Car's, and It was just me, my gf and her sister in our car. Thankfully neither of them gets motion sick

Anyone know of any good driving roads near the shuswaps? Im going there this summer...

Now I know you mentioned driving in your car.So not exactly easy but if you have a chance. I drove Calgary to Halifax in my MR2 and experienced many fun highways in northern ontario.

But hands down the best highway I have ever seen is on the cabot trail in Cape Breton.
