I just got a new used car, and I didn't notice an AWFUL smell coming from the passenger foot-well carpet until the car sat over night.

Does anybody know of a STRONG product that will go deep inside the carpet and get rid of this horrible smell?
Baking soda didn't work.

I'd like to try to do something before I go ahead and replace the entire carpet in the car which is gonna be a PITA.

Thanks in advance!

What brand? and where to buy it?

I went to canadian tire and they just had generic upholstery and carpet cleaners..

I meant with a shampoo machine (those things work great). But if you don't have access to one try searching on Autopia.org for some products/methods.

Why don't you contact Inlineturbo and see if there's something she can do for you?

Some car washes have shampoo machines. A steam cleaner should get that out of there too

^That looks fantastic, how does it work? does it steam the carpet all the way through?

yeah it steams pretty good. and cleans deep.
suction is ok for a small unit.

another option you can use is to spray carpet shampoo on the area you want to clean and agitate it with a brush and suck it out with a wet dry vac if you have one. and leave you car to dry with the windows open.

Did that already and the smell is not as bad, but still lingers around.

Looks like i'll have to order some stuff online.

Is it the carpet or mold in your air conditioning system?

Has the car been flooded?

best way to find out is to peal back the carpet and have a look.

it took me 3 cleans to get rid of a car that had a mildew smell out and that's with a Ninja professional carpet extractor.

Febreeze the shit out of the car, including the ceiling cause that shit absorbs smells! Leave windows open on a hot day!

Damn, that must be one hell of a smell. Someone die in the car? Try looking underneath the carpet
