At maximal weights, oly lifts are all concentric. No one attempts to catch a 200kg snatch in the hang for a second rep.

At that kind of weight, no one is going to spot 440 lbs. to help you complete a second one.

You obviously don't understand Olympic weight lifting or weight lifting in general.

I think he does. He was probably 1 of the 3 azn guys in wife beaters that i used to see training together before. They would load the bar up with 3 to 4 plates and all 3 would be able to get work in at the same time.

1 pressing
1 deadlifting
1 snatching

It was pretty impressive, they were able to get a good 6 to 8 full reps out before they went to half reps to really fatigue the muscles.

Hmmm the tri-force-lift... sounds good. I am going to have to call some of my buddies and set up a meet. Maybe if we are lucky we will be able to lift 200 kilos...

I really hate that that oly lift is called a snatch. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine hearing myself say wow that is an amazing snatch when seeing a guy.

A few years ago, I was getting into the high 3's low 4's on my squat and the bar bending scared the shit out of me.

WOW! for how much weight is loaded on that bar, they sure do have shitty quality cuffs (standard gym ones).

Thought they would have those twist ones that are much safer haha.

I'm glad someone posted weights in second set of vids.....

Cause at our gym now, they have the coloroured plates now in the "Olympic" lift area, and even though they are full size plates, they start at 10 pounds each :nut: .

It's now the gym hot spot where guys load on 45 pounds a side by using 3 full size plates a side, and grunt and groan as they struggle to lift it lol

The other day, I had fun with some guys that were dealifting 135 pounds using 3 plates a side... Walked over as they rested, looked at the weights pretended I was puzzled, then "tested" it by lifting it with one hand lol.

They have those at the UofC too. Impressive to people that don't know the colours I suppose.

Darkane
02-04-2011, 06:29 PM
Lets also remember that reds are 25kg, and blues are 20kg (very close to a normal 45 plate).

So just two reds/side and a bar were at 264pounds.

U of C weights aren't standard. Like Darkane said, in all international competitions/the rest of the world's gym sets, the color code for reds are 25kg, blues are 20kg, and yellows are 15kg. So it's actually way more than people may think (if they're thinking of the UC bumpers!)

I don't even know why UC got imperial bumpers...no one color codes imperial ones. I'm assuming they though no one could work with kgs...but decided to color code them anyway :dunno:

Yeah, had a look at some of the ones at Worlds....

Teh black ones are recycled rubber, and at "full size" start at 10 pounds, then get thicker in 10 pound increments to 45's. At 45, they look 2.5x the thickness of a real 45.

Then, their coloured ones, the greens are like 10 pounds, the reds like 25...
