Installed the new AMS billet K16 turbo kit on a Porsche 996TT, these are factory sized K16 turbochargers with AMS's designed billet compressor wheels. Incredible values and performance which should bring this otherwise mildly modified (performance exhaust system) car to 525 awhp on pump.

Stage one of this buildup is just the base billet K16 setup and tune, this will be followed up by the addition of an Aquamist water/meth injection system and custom 93/meth tune. Should see 575 awhp at this level.

Stage two in the future will be new clutch setup, larger injectors, new high efficiency intercoolers and further custom tuning, hopefully 600 awhp is in the cards.

Baseline before these mods this car put down 422 awhp with a flash and exhaust system on 0.8 bar boost.

Once running we will dyno and post the results.

where did you go for awd dyno ?

that looks pretty cool and its even cooler you are doing it yourself

Riegel Tuning for the awd dyno.

Thanks this is actually one of the easier builds I've done, mostly just bolt ons

She's all done and running on the 'shake down' tune, should have the new tune installed today, then off to the dyno this week. Will get some more pics today at the track as well as a video of the dyno. Car is strong and sounds great with the exhaust.

Are you planning on upgrading the clutch and flywheel together, or reusing the stock dual mass? What do you think of a Sachs stage 2 (or AWE tuning 2.5) for better clamping force?

Eric's car?

Ya Erik's car

clutch will most likely be a factory GT2RS reusing the factory dm flywheel

car blew a rad hose at the track today. Need to fix that now.

Got some good video with my gopro HD today running with a friend in his 997 GT3, will post it up later

You gonna bring the camera on Wednesday then? How much faster is this than your 996?

Ya will bring the camera, just put up one of the videos in the car section of the photos and video forum, 997 GT3 video I'll post next.

997 GT3 was slower...I stayed behind him for a few laps to get some video, then passed him as he had a GoPro as well, will post his video later.

On the soft tune (0.8 Bar) with the Billet K16's my car slowly pulls on Pauls. With the power tune it should be quite a bit stronger.

To put in perspective my car runs 1.1 bar on the stock K16's...

All completed finally, lots of misc projects on this car done all at the same time.

Installed the full package after he ran the car most of the summer on the first stage.

Installed the Aquamist water/meth system, this was actually quite allot of work especially running the wiring and water lines, ensuring the drilled holes were only done once (front trunk). Also installed larger 72# injectors.

Pulled the front driveshaft as well, we'll see how the clutch holds up, already have the new clutch, will be installing it this week. Then we shall see how it does on the dynojet.

Tank and pump in the trunk, going to build a cover around everything to protect the lines from items put in the trunk in the future.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_MoDbRMiCz9g/TJbZrPapajI/AAAAAAAAAm8/DiocrdkaOk0/s400/Porsche%20996TT%20Aquamist%20gauge.JPG

Put the Aquamist guage in the centre console, while it was apart I installed a 997TT shifter assembly and a Blinder laser jammer system.

Another one of those 'while your in there...' jobs

This one was a royal PITA, mostly because it didn't come with the front mount inserts. I made up some in the lathe with off centre bolt hole to easy installation. Nice piece, glad its in and done...

Water/meth injectors and lines installed in y-pipe.

Had to cut up an old injector and the adapter then soldered it to the leads. Filled the gaps with JB weld. One injector on each bank would hit the turbocharger mount bracket due to the wiring adapter.

injector adapter as delivered, wire lead could not go on.

My adapter modified to fit, worked out great.

Car runs awesome, only pushing 0.9 bar right now and no meth injection. Need to do a few Durametric logs tonight then send the files to receive a new updated full power flash...

Looks good!

What are you using for engine management? Since you can flash yourself, are you using Softtronic, or is there something else that allows self-flashing of the DME on the 996?

The EvoMSit on my 997 requires me to remove the DME and courier it to Arizona, which is inconvenient.

Stock DME, just reflashing it via the internet. EPL provides the tune I just connect the OBD-II to the laptop :)

Not sure if they offer the same for the 997 though.

Ah, nice. I just googled EPL and checked their site - looks like they do offer something similar for the 997, but the only product I see is for a stock car.

Enough of me hijacking your thread. I look forward to seeing more updates on your build.

Couldn't reuse the windshield washer tank for the meth? That little tank looks like it'll run out quick or does it just look small in the pics? Should be fun to see this car out and about ;)

Aaron,

This was Erik's car as you know, he ordered the parts I just installed them.

Might make sense to use the stock windshield tank but I'm not sure if I want to run washer fluid. I'd prefer to have a 50/50 distilled water and true methanol mix and wouldn't want to spray that on my windshield.

That tank he has should last a decent time on the street (I have the same sized tank in my Lotus and it lasted along time on the street. I'd go through one tank per tank of gas on the track though, maybe a bit faster.

We'll see how long it lasts, hopefully the weather holds and this car can be tracked this year once it's all completed. Just ran into a problem with the Aquamist, looks like the controller is dead...

Lol, I spray 50/50 onto my windshield all the time haha. I wash the car quite often though.

Found a compressor map for a K16..

:dunno:

doesnt look like its insane.. i think the K24 fixes the higher RPM loss...

Dont know yet Erik still hasnt got the upgraded tune...I think he made 44?rwhp when we dyno'd mine made 499.5 (cant say 500 or maxt will come unglued lol) with light misfire due to coils and worn plugs.. I lol'd but he wasnt so happy.

Mines running K24s, not sure if I'll do more but if I do it will be the billet K24/18Gs, 997.2 ICs, bigger injectors and a protomotive tune. With water/meth it should be good for a reliable 650rwhp on 91 octane.

Might just sell it though.

Lol, ok we call it 500.. If we had let it cool down more, it would have been over that , and probably makes more than that on the road.
Eriks car was all over the place but the average was probably 430, not bad for low boost level, but should be a lot stronger now. If the weather is better next weekend, we should throw it on again to get him his boost logs.
