Morning,

So it looks like I need to get a major maintenance done on the FJR, including valves etc.. So, I'm shopping around for a shop that I can trust, and won't break the bank.

Anyone have any suggestions for a combined 42/45k maintenance on my 04 FJR1300?

42k list (http://www.fjr1300.info/maint/valves.html) - valve clearance adjustment
45k list (http://www.fjr1300.info/maint/28k.html) - regular maintenance

I'm already collecting parts from all over, so suggestions for a trustworthy yamaha mechanic would be appreciated.

JfuckinC, thanks for the heads up. I called ProAm, and they quoted me $1200.. with almost no detail. Walt Healey gave me a good breakdown of what it would entail, and a guesstimate closer to $400-500. Unless they found something wrong, in which case that would change. I'm going to be taking it to Walt when I get budget approval from the CFO.

Thats an awesome deal to get valves done at the shop. Make sure they know exactly what their doing though, because I got under-quoted for my R1 42K maintenance at one point (they told me $400-500). They thought it would be easier to access the valves, but didn't know that on my bike the rad needed to come off, etc, and it would have actually been closer to $800 for the job. I ended up meeting a local mechanic from one of the shops who did it for me in his garage though

I do work at walt's but I'm on parental leave right now.. The guys have worked on plenty of fjr's and I'm sure they'll take good care of your baby.
