Don't bother doing it if you have no prior electrical experience. It's not a walk in the park for most people. I'd pay 12v the $50 and have him take care of things - you will thank yourself for doing it.

Don't forget, part of it comes down to what starter you are putting in. It may be easy to do so, but with quite a few starters, your warranty is void if you DIY. Just be careful.
