I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima with a stock tire size of 215/60/15

Can I go with a 205/65/15 without drastically affecting handling?

It's about 1.3% bigger than the stock size.

AFAIK
A 3% or greater change in tire size will cause disruptions in your ABS operation.

As stated 1.3% bigger, when changing tires, rule of thumb is to stay 3% or under. So your safe.

Only difference is your speedometer reading, you will be going faster than what your speedometer reads. Actual speed 100km/h, speedometer 98.6km/h

So if I wanted to put a 17" on my impreza 2.5i when its stock is 16". Its doable? I was told from the parts guy that I was unable too. I do not want to do any modifications on the car.

Yes its do-able, I dunno what the parts guy is smoking but going +1 is always do-able

I'm basing this off a 2008 which has a 205/55/16 tire, u should go to a 215/45/17, 215/50/17, or 225/45/17 tire size, whether these sizes will fit with no clearance/rubbing issues, you will have to test urself.

Only reason you COULDNT is if your brakes are too big for a 16" rim.

You can throw 20's on the bitch! if you don't mind using elastic bands for tires...

Whatever size increase in rim needs to be offset by decreased tire wall height. Visa Versa. And as stated before, 3% is the max.

if this 3% rule causes so much grief, why do people run wheels and tires that are as much as 2 inches smaller for performance? they dont report any issues with abs or anything other then the speedo being incorrect. do the issues only show up on certain cars?
