Just wondering what you guys think of the updates for 04 on the S2K... Yay or nay?

The S2K needed low end torque, and now 04's got low end torque :).

I've read some ppl's experience with them in autox in the states, and it's definately faster than the 2L.

You get HID's and 17" rims with the 2004's too. They're only $500 more than the 2003's.

How about the suspension? Stiffer front springs, softer rear and smaller rear anti-roll bar make it easier to drive but less capable on the track... Oh and Rage, it may be a little quiker, but that extra low end torque came at the cost of 1000 rpm... would it still be as good a track car?

AFAIK, the gearing was changed to make up for this. So top speed in each gear should be identical even with lower redline. Even after gearing calculations, there's still more low end torque at the wheels in the lower half of the rev range.

Hopefully they've fixed the problem with the shock towers pulling away from the unibody on cars that see extensive track use.

Its not like the 04 lost a ton of RPM, I mean it still Redlines at 8000, which is higher than 99% of other vehicles out there. If they droped it to 6000 rpm and put an OHV V8 in there I may be a little more concerned.

do the 04's handle as well as the 03's?

I assume if its faster on the Autocross, it would indeed handle better or at least the same.

The 04 has been consistently dynoed at 220 hp and 158 (around there) tq to the wheels. Honda underated the crank figures...

everyone says theres no replacement for displacement, and now u got it, altough 2.2 L isnt exactly a tourque monster...
so yay to 04

Um ........................... It has been discussed that it "may" have been a "ringer". A few other (privately owned) cars have now been dynoed and the WHP is almost in line with previous models.
The '04 has been "Americanized" to appeal to more people. It is better in many respects. It is worse in other respects. You can nitpick all you like about which one is better. "Newer" may be better but "older" has it's charms, too. Unless you actually own one, it's hard to tell for sure.

i say it appeals more to the people that are buying to keep it stock and the people who but it to race will replace the suspension anyways so the change doensnt matter, more torque is good....and the redline, sure its lower but its still 8K, which is still great!

i thought its called S2200 now? sounds kinds gay if thats the case

I was just at a honda dealership today looking at 04 S2000's with my spoiled friend...
One guy at T&T said they started at 50,000and change, w/o tax...So yeah, 53ish is about where they're at..
The 04's are still great handling cars, and they have a 2tone leather options, which IMO, looks a little nicer than the solid red/blue colored interiors.
I'd definitly go for an 04 over an 03...Most 03's are still around 45,000-49,000 at dealerships...so...(Hondawest has a GPW 03 w/ like, barly any KMs and blue leather for 49,000+change)
Amazing car if you can get it.

The last generation S2K was awesome to drive but in the end, I still needed something more refined. It was just too 'raw' of a sports car.

I loved the last gen S2K. Every single one that I've borrowed! :)

If my wife could drive manual, I wouldn't mind owning a supercharged S2K over the AMG.

The S2000 was available in 2001 in Spa Yellow as a special edition. Only 48 units complete with hard top were imported for the Canadian Market. (and I have one :) ) The new Solar Yellow is going to be mass produced and is a different shade to the original.
