Hey everyone,

about 2 weeks ago I sold a van to some guy, I am a fuckin retard and I lost my copy of the bill of sale.

He abandoned it way the fuck in Chochrane

I get a letter from Chochrane RCMP telling me that im the last registered owner, and its been towed and I need to pay the bill and storage fees.

Now I'm pretty much fucked.

Does anyone in Chochrane want to buy a 1994 plymouth voyager for $1?? it was in perfect running condition when I sold it, I just dont want to pay them to tow it again all the way to the south of calgary because I don't have insurance on it and its the long weekend.

So anyone in chochrane that wants this things for free PM me or give me a call 403 619 9668

Aaron

If you want you can go to a registry and sign an official document saying you sold it. A similar thing happened to me. I sold someone a prelude and a week later I got a call from the impound saying I owe them some huge amount of money. I went into a registry and signed some "official" documentation saying I sold it and lost my bill of sale. All you will have to do is do that and than bring the paper into the RCMP. I forget what the name of the paper I signed was but I'm sure any registry will tell you.

I'm the last registered owner, so RCMP is going after me

The vehicle stays under your name until the next owner registers it.

Just an FYI it's spelled Cochrane

I've heard of a couple people having this happen to them, like integra10 said though, you just need to get an official document stating you sold the vehicle and you should be in the clear

So I called Cochrane RCMP and they told me to call back on tuesday, the lady on the phone suggested that the document won't effect anything and I will probably still have to pay?? :banghead:

Any advice from someone in a similar situation?

She is full of it.

The document you are to sign is a statutory delcaration stating that you are no longer the owner of the vehicle and as much detail as you can about the person who bought it from you.

You take that to them in person on Tues and they will revoke the charges from your file.

Yeah she is just trying to scare you into paying it. Go sign the release and than go hand it in to the RCMP.

Edit your first post and take out your phone number or 4 years from now, someone will revive this thread and people will start calling you in 2014.

Why can't you just tell them to keep the vehicle and sell it... what do you care, it's not yours?
