What motor is used in the JGTC supras?

I was watching today and noticed in the vehicle description that they used a 5L N/A V8. I've never heard of a Japanese motor bigger than a V6. Anyone have specs or an engine code?

hehe they used to use the turbo 4 cylinder from MR2 turbo in that car. If they went V8, it's probably a bored out version of the Lexus V8 powerplant.

The 3sgte is a pretty popular little engine. There are several gens and it has been used in everything jgtc supras, jgtc mrs's, celicas, a few pikes peak racers, tacoma race trucks, open wheel carts..etc Its light weight and potential for high output make it a popular choice

The field this season will see the participation of seven Toyota Supras, the title-winning GT500 car in 2002. A major change from last year, however, is the introduction of a new power plant; a naturally aspirated V8 replacing the 4-cylinder turbo-charged 3S-GTE used last year. The 4.3-liter 3UZ-FE used for the Lexus and Soarea models has been bored to a capacity of 5.2 liters for the JGTC version.

weird...

This is great, to this day a friend of mine believes that a Japanese company has never and will never produce a V8. hahahhaha I love proving him wrong.....

LOL, even with the existence of the Lexus LS and Infiniti QX cars? Talk about head buried in the sand.

Would be good to see Honda and Mazda producing a V8.
