thanks dude, I love nice things that are cheap, too

it's almost better than great but expensive wine, cause you're getting two thrills at once (having good wine, and saving money).

hahaha

Mine as well. The "special reserve" Merlot is really good. But its over the $15 mark.

If you like that one, you'll like Alamos 2008 Malbec. Superstore liquor store carries it.

One of my favourite wines is under $15

J.J. McWilliams - Cabernet Merlot blend
smooth, goes well with just about everything, slight chill = awesome

Another great one is Errazuriz - Cab Sauv. depending where you go it can be had for under 15

Barefoot - Cab sauv.
Superstore for ~$6.90, I always have a half box on reserve.

Thanks for the link!

I read this at work so I grabbed a bottle of the Lindemans Cab on my way home. I was planning steaks for dinner so I thought we'd try something new.

I don't know enough about wine to tell you why I didn't like it, but I wasn't a huge fan. It seemed kind of plain compared to the last cabernet we picked up. Unfortunately I don't remember what that was...

It's certainly drinkable and we'll have no problem finishing the bottle off, but I don't think I'd buy it again.

Oh well, I'll try another off the list this weekend for dinner at my sister's. For a beer guy this is all so confusing...

Copper Moon makes a decent wine and it's usually pretty cheap or on sale.

A fantastic Riesling (imo) that is around the 15 mark. Willow Park carries it.

You should always be able to find a decent table wine for $15 or less for most cabs, shrivaz, merlots, etc... from virtually any country

Any more, and you're paying for specific vinyards, & brands, and I'd say $50 & up, you're paying for specific years that have been identified by connoisseurs

Heck if I'm going to pay $50 or more on 750ml, I'd better be able to taste the cast, the region, the soils and even the god damned poop that was used to fertilize the soils.

Maybe I just don't have that good of a pallet... who am I kidding, I do :)

I'd say there is more subjectivity to finding a quality wine than even a scotch :)

^ LOL, you can probably find that for $2-5k at a very esoteric Liquor store. I find most restaurants multiply the normal liquor store cost of a bottle by 300-400%. I love wine with a good meal, but I'll have it at home and save some $$$$ while doing so. :dunno: Unless Im REALLY out to impress, I dont find it justified most times unless its a reasonably priced wine to begin with, but then; define making a "good impression" :dunno:

My favorite wine is this.

Masi Campofiorin. Its about $40/bottle sometimes $30 on sale; but wow its absolutely amazing stuff, very difficult to describe, but very smooth and rich.
Give it a try and you'll be hooked too!
