IF you plan on doing extensive work, you should order the shop manual

i dont plan on doing shit lol...im just trying to help, today they tried getting on the dizzy/spark plug wires, and didnt know which terminal of the distributor went to which cylinder, and everything leaks, theres coolant coming out of the intake manifold gasket, water coming out of the water pump and a shitload of other problems...hell it doesnt even have fenders right now...im just trying to steer this project away from disaster

Go with a Haynes manual - the shop manual covers everything in probably too much detail for what you're doing right now. Get the haynes manual and get the engine back together  then go from there

CDN tire sells teh haynes.

A real shop manual is like $600+ for that car.
My friend bought one last year for his 81'Z

Its a v-8, 18436572, is the firing order, line up first piston on the compression strok, stick the distributor and point the rotor to any terminal, thatn now is number 1...looking at the engine from the front of the car, all plugs on the drivers side are odd numbers from the front 1357 all on the pass side, are even now 2468..Thats like Grade 10 autoshop....
As for leaks, it obviously needs gaskets and or hoses, a manual isn't really need for that, just fix whats leaking..Max

well according to the diagram from the manual he has, engines with HEI (whatever that is) fire cylinder 1 from a diff terminal of the distributor than an engine without HEI...the manual explains nothing further about this HEI stuff
