hi, i just had a jdm engine put into my camry.

i drove it for about 4 kilometers, but now cant go forward.

i can only go backwards, i changed the fluid, checked the cable to the actuator on the transmission that switches the transmission to drive

i am sure the transmission is fine but is something not connected anymore? or suggestions?

did you install the forward transmission with the 4 speed auto or only a reverse tranny?

Did you maybe not hook up the reverse solenoid? This happened to a buddy a long time ago when we were in high school. Is it stuck in reverse?

i am not sure i understand both questions, its the original transmission to the car it was working fine going forward.

Will it shift out of reverse at all...can you start it in 1st gear at all?

What happens when you try to shift it from Neutral to Drive? does the car stall out/grinding etc? You said it only goes backwards, does that mean you can only get it to go into reverse?

1. Speed sensor mounting point. This will either be your cable screwing into the transmission housing or an electronic sensor that is bolted to the transmission housing.

2.The radiator. If your car has a transmission cooler, it's possible that a leak will cause transmission fluid to leak into the radiator fluid. They don't mix well, so you'll see it floating around in there.

3. Did you change the filter when you put new fluid in, sometimes a fluid swap will cause a build up to break off and clog the filter.

4. Check that you have enough fluid in the 1st place

5. I would try to start it in Park or Neutral and try using 2 or 1

Very unlikely that the transmission is screwed if it was working before the swap.

ok i will try all those things.

thanks

i hope its jsut a fluid issue, i did change the fluid after it stopped going forward and the same problem happened.

pull the tranny out, turn it around, instant forward.
