That's awesome, can't wait.

My sister just got me a Lego guy from London from her recent trip.

You wind his arm and both of his legs light up like a flashlight.

I want to bring him to the office but I'm afraid someone will jack him.

I used to love lego. I saw this in a mall a few days ago. I'd love to have it.. but the price tag is pretty steep. I think it was 800 or so

Also loved "technic" when I was a kid.

Did anyone have a lego program at their school? I remember in elementary we had a program where lego gave our class two huge briefcases containing lego and motors ect. Anyone know what that is called? I always wanted it. I remember you could make a motorized car, chainsaw, all different creations.

I think it was a special sub-set of Lego Technic called 'Dacta'.

Each group had a complete set in a case with holders for all the gears, blocks, etc. The teacher would visually inspect and weigh each set after class to make sure no pieces were 'lost'.

You can tell old lego, because of it's low lead/depleted uranium content

I've always wanted to build something life sized with just bricks, but even those are freaking expensive for that large a job.

BINGO!

Wow, I had forgotten how strict our teachers were until you said something. We had a split class so it was a larger class with two teachers, everyone who got their turns at it, would have to check in their name, what time you had it, and had a inventory list of all parts. A piece went missing one time and the whole class went to look for it.

Mindstorms! There are (were?) C compilers for the chips in them too, you could make them do anything you wanted... if you're willing to put in the time.

I had two of them that I got for Christmas when they first came out, they sat on my self for years because I never wanted to disassemble them. Eventually I gave in, and turned them into a bad ass 'Mech Warrior'. Got me a little picture in LEGO magazine. I was so proud.

And to think I even had the original boxes up to that point.

Thought I'd bump this to see if anyone had an update.

There wasn't one on the link in the OP.

My son (10) wants to drop 150 bux on a Venator cruiser.

Right now I have to buy online but If I knew when the store would be open this summer I could probably convince him to wait a few weeks and then I can save on shipping and the dreaded wait time after ordering.

Has anyone seen the Lego display in the center court of Chinook? There's a steamboat, pirate ship etc., but the coolest things are a life-size replica of Woody from Toy Story, and a Stampede poster.

I'm just waiting for some kid to climb the barrier to hug Woody...

I have been working on getting the City Construction set for my son and just missing the 7633 set. However, I was wondering if any of you long time LEGO fans had tips on where to find bulk bricks? I have tried a couple of guys on kijiji, but they are bitten, bent and have Mega Bloks mixed in. Is my best bet to get the brick containers at the LEGO store?

Not really looking for anything intricate, just stuff for him to start building a few more things that don't take apart his sets.

I had the first 4 of those sets.

I also had the police station.

Lego was great when you actually built things with random blocks. Now there are so many blocks that are specific to sets. Like a "dragon" block or a "boat" block.
