IMO it's kind of gay but Subaru loyalists will eat this up. They really to love their cars no matter how many engines or transmissions they go through. I've been a member of many car communities over the years and have never seen anything like it.

Maybe a bit different, but it would be no different than marking your bed post with "conquests" lol

Redundant to have gay and Subaru in the same sentence.

You're completely right, I have never seen anything like it before.

Oh, and as much as I like my Subaru the badge thing is ridiculous.

Yea but crankwalk was very isolated (not even a TSB) and Mitsubishi owners were actually upset about their engine failing didn't brush it off because love makes love a Subaru.

I just don't understand why you always state the same thing over and over again...I encourage you to show me the data on engines blown compared to production numbers as I have never seen it.

You are always going to hear about the bad things that happen to cars on forums, very rarely the good. I am on my 5th Subaru and have yet to see engine failure *knocks on wood*.

crankwalk was a common issue with unreliable Mitsu's

Proof? And not some kid that installed a big turbo on the stock fuel system with an SAFC and 18-20 psi boost that blew his engine and blamed it on crankwalk.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1695936

Keep in mind these were all low mileage failures with some higher mileage failures starting to trickle in. This doesn't even account for Subaru owners that aren't members of NACIOC so in actuallity the number of failures is probably at least 5x as much. As you can see it's all well done and documented.

I already knew about that thread...I was looking for something more official-like. Let's use this as a sample though I guess because you want to use biased forum information.

I am not going to count out how many motors failed in that thread, so let's say 10 per page as there are a lot of filler posts in there.

10x30=300

Now let's look at the total forum population...237,904. Out of those let's say 10% are driving 08+ turbos.

237,904*.10=23,790

So out of almost 24,000 cars there have been 300 failures. While the number isn't exactly fantastic it's not an epidemic either.

23K is probably the total amount of Imprezas sold in a year and the WRX probably makes up 15% max of that including STI's. Subaru doesn't break it up so nobody clearly knows how many WRX's and STI's are sold.

Probably not.

http://www.subaru.com/company/news/index.html

That's only 09/10 numbers but it shows an average of let's say 40,000 Imprezas sold in America yearly. I would also say that you are a bit low on your 15% estimate but like you said who knows.

I am not arguing the fact that there is a problem, I am just saying that your "OMGWTFENGINEGOBOOM" posts every time Subaru's are mentioned are getting old as it's a relatively small issue.

It is too bad this is US-only. Sent it along to some friends. Kudos.

The high mileage badge isn't nearly as nice as the one Volvo used to send out.

:werd:

Anytime a post about Subaru's are brought up, I expect to see a post about Subaru's sucking from you like I expect somebody asking for nudes when a girl shows up on Beyond.
