I am looking to pick up an alpinestars jacket online but I am having a little trouble deciding weather to go with a 36/46 or 38/48 (USA/European sizing). Now the obvious thing would be to go to a store and try on a jacket, but today I went to Walt healy, GW and Blackfoot and unfortunately Walt healy didn't have any Alpinestars in either size and neither did GW. At Blackfoot they had some, but they were in the S, M, L sizing and the small is what fit me right. I tried on a dainese in 48 which fit great but the sales men told me that dainese fit a little more fitted then alpinestar, so I don't know if that is a good comparison. So now I am left with this sizing chart I found online.

http://www.alpinestars.com/sizing/

My chest is 94cm and my waist is 77cm. So I fall right in between a 36 and 38 on that chart. I know leathers should fit tight but I am worried the 36 will be too tight. Anyone have any experience buying based off that chart, or any alpinestars owners want to chime in? Perhaps I just need to go back these stores in a week or so and try again, just thought I would ask here in the mean time.

edit: I should add that I am 5'10" 150lbs.

Go to a store and try it on first. Then order it.

He mentioned earlier in his post that they either didn't have his size or were in different sizes. You need to read his post.
I find they fit a little big.

Get a 36 and remove the liner, should fit good. Leather will break in and stretch anyways

Gonna try the shops again but if I am still out of luck I think I am going to go with the 38 based of this chart and comparing the sizes in the S/small category and the 36 and 38 sizes. With the 38 I think I will be able to slide a back protector in their more comfortably as well.

Good thinking, I didn't think of back protectors. Yah go for the 38. Ride safe

go with the 38, at ur size you could probably squeeze into a 36 if you wanted to but a 38 will be more comfortable

How bad is black during a calgary summer? The jacket I am looking at is perforated which should help but just wanted to hear first hand from people who have all black jackets.

My black textile wasn't overly hot. I didn't mind it usually
I haven't tried my white pref. leather to compare yet
