Anyone entered in the marathon?

Registration online (ended yesterday) but i emailed in to see if I can get in on the 10km. Maybe i will see some of you beyonders there.

To be honest, I've never even run 10km at one time before, I always do about 7-8km and never once more. Should be interesting if I get in. I'm going to try and run a 10k this evening and see what it feels like haha

Anyone know what a good time for a 10k is?

Well i just got back from my run...

10k in 54:42.

Stopped for about 45 seconds to puke up some flegm, so I think i can easily cut that down to 53:XX.

Now I am pretty happy with that... I looked up some times on google and found this:

i would say around 42-44 mins for an intermediate runer but obviously this figure would raise rapidly if you were 80 but anyone under 60 should be able to run that time if in good shape> istarted running 5 years ago at 40 and was a smoker until recently and can easily run 36.30 for 10k so i think that 42-44 is more than realistic

If an 80 year old can do it in 42 minutes... Looks like I have a lot of work to do

Looks like they wont let me register by email...

I am sorry you will have to come the Expo and register there http://www.calgarymarathon.com/expo__events.html. We will be doing last minute registrations and expect there will be some additional room in the half at that time as people are still making changes. Thank you

Will just have to go there at 4pm and see if I can register at the expo.

Heres the results from last years 10K

If I can crack 50 minutes I would finish in the top 15%. There are lots of runners around 48-58 minutes.

^running all the time in Calgary, then running in Maui must have been a dream! We did ton's of walking in Ohau this past March and didn't break a sweat....good altitude training at its finest!

Congrats BTW on your Marathon completion

why do marathons have to be on the roads disturbing traffic when they could use calgarys perfectly fine walking/biking paths?

calgary is even credited with having an outstanding bike/walking path compared to most cities.

Because it's hard to fit 850 people on a bike path.

they seemed rather thinned out when i had to wait for them...

and why not release them in groups 10-15 minutes apart if its that big of a deal?

Money raised was considerably higher than projected. Nice work!

I'm planning on running in it next year! Were there minimums to reach to run?

No minimums, it's strictly voluntary which is nice.

I think my record for a 10km was 39:50.
